A former Ohio police officer was sentenced to at least 57 years in prison today for killing his pregnant lover and her unborn child, after a jury voted to spare his life.
Bobby Cutts Jr., 30, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for 57 years. He had faced a possible death sentence for murdering Jessie Davis and her unborn child, who was to be named Chloe. Plane Spotter Matt Cawby: Pilot Buzzing Airport

HONG KONG — A Cathay Pacific Airways pilot was fired after he swooped down and buzzed a Seattle-area airfield without permission while taking delivery of a Boeing 777-300ER passenger jet, the airline said Wednesday.
The Hong Kong carrier — which would not identify the pilot — said it was still investigating the Jan. 30 fly-by event at Paine Field, 30 miles north of downtown Seattle and home to a Boeing plant. Images of the stunt were posted on YouTube and the Web site of a Seattle-area plane spotter, Matt Cawby. MILFORD, Connecticut – Milford officials have expelled a Jonathan Law High School student accused of lighting her science teacher’s hair on fire during class. Police say the girl was arrested after she ignited the ponytail of George Lardas with a lighter. A police spokesman says Lardas did not require medical attention, but his hair was singed. LOS ANGELES, California – Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Tuesday signed one of the nation’s toughest laws on pet sterilization, requiring most dogs and cats to be spayed or neutered by the time they are 4 months old.
The ordinance is aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating the thousands of euthanizations conducted in Los Angeles’ animal shelters every year.

3rd-Grade Students Searched for Missing $5 – Innocent

HOPKINSVILLE, Kentucky – A class of third-grade students at a western Kentucky elementary school was searched by a group of teachers after an envelope containing $5 disappeared, a school official said.
The students at Martin Luther King Elementary in Hopkinsville were asked to remove their shoes and socks during the search.
Some parents were angered by the Feb. 15 incident, which did not turn up the missing money.

Steelers Announcer Myron Cope Dies – 35 seasons in the broadcast booth

PITTSBURGH — Myron Cope, the screechy-voiced announcer whose colorful catch phrases and twirling Terrible Towel became symbols of the Pittsburgh Steelers during an unrivaled 35 seasons in the broadcast booth, has died. He was 79.
Cope died Wednesday morning at a nursing home in Mount Lebanon, a Pittsburgh suburb, Joe Gordon, a former Steelers executive and a longtime friend of Cope’s, told The Associated Press. Cope had been treated for respiratory problems and heart failure in recent months, Gordon said.
Cope’s tenure from 1970-2004 as the color analyst on the Steelers’ radio network is the longest in NFL history for a broadcaster with a single team and led to his induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2005. Florida – A 50-year-old man known for public intoxication in Niceville showed up recently at the Waffle House on John Sims Parkway. According to a Niceville Police Department report, Waffle House employees called for help after the man began to change clothes in the middle of the restaurant. An employee asked the man to change in the bathroom. When he came out of the bathroom, he stated he was going outside to smoke a cigarette, according to the report.
