LOUDON, Tennessee – Police in eastern Tennessee say they found a school bus driver passed out behind the wheel of a loaded bus that was stopped in the middle of a road.

OJO CALIENTE, New Mexico – State police have arrested a woman who filled her 18-month-old daughter’s sippy cup with beer and gave it to her in front of undercover narcotics agents, according to court records. State police Lt. Juan Martinez said Monday that undercover agents with the Region III Narcotics Task Force were at 21-year-old Virginia Neel-Blaker’s home in Ojo Caliente to buy drugs from her and her husband, James Blaker. The agents saw her give her daughter a sip of beer from a can. Then she allegedly filled up the girl’s sippy cup with beer and gave it to the toddler to get her to sleep, Martinez said. Amazingly the teenager survived the stabbing and ten months on from the attack has enrolled in college.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Two armed robbers hijacked a security van with $1.3 million inside but were forced to abandon more than half the cash because their small getaway car could not carry it all, Malaysian police said Tuesday.
The robbers and their compact getaway car were still at large with $524,000 following Monday’s heist near Kuala Lumpur, said district police chief Shakaruddin Che Mood.

LAWRENCE, Massachusetts – A Lawrence police officer has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman while on duty and in uniform.
Kevin Sledge, of Salem, N.H., was arrested after being stopped in Pelham, N.H., on Tuesday, shortly after authorities issued a warrant. Police had asked Sledge to turn himself in, but he went missing and family members told police he might be suicidal. ISLAMORADA, Florida – A dog is recovering after a Florida Keys carpenter dove in to save his pet from a shark.
Greg LeNoir said he took his 14-pound rat terrier Jake for a daily swim at a marina Friday.

INYOKERN, California – A group of suspected thieves in Kern County may need to learn the concept of “unmarked bills.”
A restaurant known as The Homestead in the high desert town of Inyokern had a tradition of customers hanging dollar bills on its walls, usually inscribing them with messages and other distinguishing details.

Luke Schreder thought the police officer looked like he just “needed a hug.” The police officer disagreed.

Washington – US immigration officials on Monday announced moves to ease and speed up visa-processing for HIV-positive visitors to the United States, months after a 21-year entry ban on people with the virus was lifted. Under the new rules, US consular offices overseas will have the authority to grant temporary, non-immigrant visas to HIV-positive applicants who meet “all of the other normal criteria for the granting of a US visa,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement.
