ADRIAN, Michigan – A 16-year-old Michigan girl who poisoned her grandmother with morphine has been sentenced to life in prison with a chance for parole in 20 years. Kristina Adkins cried as she apologized for the slaying during Friday’s sentencing. Adkins was only 13 in 2006, when 53-year-old Virginia Bentley was poisoned. Probate Judge Margaret Noe chose an adult sentence for Adkins. She could have placed her in a juvenile facility until age 21. Marylane – One of the great parts about America is that, generally speaking, we have the same set of rules for the rich as for the poor. At least that’s what I thought was the case, but the University of Maryland just proved me wrong. Maryland has decided to serve beer and wine next season in Byrd Stadium’s 64 new suites, but not anywhere else in the stadium. Currently, the university prohibits alcohol consumption in Byrd Stadium, but after the long-awaited $50.8 million expansion, which will add 440 mezzanine seats as well as the 64 suites, the school is willing to make an exception – for a price, of course. Wales – When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply was what they needed.
Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: “I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated”.
So that was what went up under the English version which barred lorries from a road near a supermarket.
“When they’re proofing signs, they should really use someone who speaks Welsh,” said journalist Dylan Iorwerth. More… Magazine LaneDiscount Cigarettes & TobaccoNutty News MarketplaceIdentity Direct

ATLANTA – A Delta baggage worker got a bit of a fright before Halloween when she opened a jetliner’s cargo door and found a cheetah running loose amid the luggage. Two cheetahs were being flown in the cargo area of a Boeing 757 passenger flight from Portland, Ore., to Atlanta on Thursday when one escaped from its cage, Delta spokeswoman Betsy Talton said Friday. “They told us a large animal had gotten out of a container in the cargo hold and they were having to send someone to tranquilize it,” said one passenger, Lee Sentell of Montgomery, Alabama. The Muslim wedding of a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl has been raided by police. Cops arrested the Muslim cleric conducting the sick ceremony and the children’s parents in Pakistan’s largest city. The cleric had not yet begun the ceremony of Mohammad Waseem, seven, and his bride Nishain Karachi, five – which was attended by 100 guests. Pakistan law forbids marriage below the age of 18 – but some Muslim scholars say it is permissible if the bride and groom have reached puberty. TV footage showed both children in traditional wedding clothes in the laps of policemen after the raid – the girl with tears running down her cheeks.
