Marylane – One of the great parts about America is that, generally speaking, we have the same set of rules for the rich as for the poor. At least that’s what I thought was the case, but the University of Maryland just proved me wrong. Maryland has decided to serve beer and wine next season in Byrd Stadium’s 64 new suites, but not anywhere else in the stadium. Currently, the university prohibits alcohol consumption in Byrd Stadium, but after the long-awaited $50.8 million expansion, which will add 440 mezzanine seats as well as the 64 suites, the school is willing to make an exception – for a price, of course. Wales – When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply was what they needed.
Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: “I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated”.
So that was what went up under the English version which barred lorries from a road near a supermarket.
“When they’re proofing signs, they should really use someone who speaks Welsh,” said journalist Dylan Iorwerth. More… Magazine LaneDiscount Cigarettes & TobaccoNutty News MarketplaceIdentity Direct

ATLANTA – A Delta baggage worker got a bit of a fright before Halloween when she opened a jetliner’s cargo door and found a cheetah running loose amid the luggage. Two cheetahs were being flown in the cargo area of a Boeing 757 passenger flight from Portland, Ore., to Atlanta on Thursday when one escaped from its cage, Delta spokeswoman Betsy Talton said Friday. “They told us a large animal had gotten out of a container in the cargo hold and they were having to send someone to tranquilize it,” said one passenger, Lee Sentell of Montgomery, Alabama. The Muslim wedding of a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl has been raided by police. Cops arrested the Muslim cleric conducting the sick ceremony and the children’s parents in Pakistan’s largest city. The cleric had not yet begun the ceremony of Mohammad Waseem, seven, and his bride Nishain Karachi, five – which was attended by 100 guests. Pakistan law forbids marriage below the age of 18 – but some Muslim scholars say it is permissible if the bride and groom have reached puberty. TV footage showed both children in traditional wedding clothes in the laps of policemen after the raid – the girl with tears running down her cheeks. Payback Time: Journalists From Three Newspapers Booted From Obama’s Plane

Journalists from three major newspapers that endorsed John McCain have reportedly been booted from Barack Obama’s campaign plane for the final leg of the presidential race.
The Washington Times reported Friday that it was notified of the Obama campaign’s decision Thursday evening — even though the paper has covered Obama from the start. Executive Editor John Solomon told FOXNews.com that the Obama campaign said it didn’t have enough seats on the plane, but “I don’t think the explanation makes sense to us.” “We’ve been traveling since 2007 with him. … We’re a relevant newspaper — every day we break news,” Solomon said. “And to suddenly be kicked off the plane for people who haven’t covered it as aggressively or thoroughly as we are … it sort of feels unfair.” More… More… Magazine LaneDiscount Cigarettes & TobaccoNutty News MarketplacePetCareRx

How many zeros in a billion?

Posted By Staff

The next time you hear a politician use the word ‘billion’ in a casual manner, think about whether you want the ‘politicians’ spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.
-A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

-A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

-A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

-A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth.

- A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
-While this thought is still fresh in our brain…let’s take a look at New Orleans … It’s amazing what you can learn with some simple division. Louisiana Senator,Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARSto rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number…what does it mean?

-Well… if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,528.

-Or… if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

-Or… if you are a family of four…your family gets $2,066,012.

DENVER – A fire caused $1 million worth of damage at an unmanned underground nuclear launch site last spring, but the Air Force didn’t find out about it until five days later, an Air Force official said Thursday. The May 23 fire burned itself out after an hour or two, and multiple safety systems prevented any threat of an accidental launch of the Minuteman III missile, Maj. Laurie Arellano said. She said she was not allowed to say whether the missile was armed with a nuclear warhead at the time of the fire. New York – A Queens priest who worked as a chaplain at a hospital has been suspended after apparently using his confessional booth to take advantage of a vulnerable parishioner and engaging in a sexual relationship with her. The alleged affair began at the Our Lady of the Snows Church in Glen Oaks, where Rev. Elvis Elano practiced. It was in a confessional there where the illicit liaison between the Catholic priest and a woman going through a divorce began. “For lack of a better word, he was hitting on her,” said the woman’s attorney, Andrew Laufer.
