spanTAMPA, Florida – Denard Span’s mother settled into her box seat, surrounded by 20 family members and friends, to watch her son lead off for the Minnesota Twins. Uh oh. Look out! In a shocking split-second, Span hit a hard foul ball that struck his mom in the upper chest. Man pours urine on disabled father’s head

Plank came into the kitchen and yelled at his father for using the stove to cook potatoes in a pot of water. Plank grabbed his father’s urinal cup attached to his walker and poured it over his father’s head. Plank also dumped the pot of potatoes and water on his father.  Full Article

Student Faces Suspension Over Breast Cancer Bracelet

fightFlorida – A $4 bracelet is getting one Florida student into big trouble after, he says, his school objected to the bracelet’s anti-cancer messages. Fourteen-year-old Frankie Rodriguez had been wearing the bracelet around his wrist for the past month. It reads, “I love boobies” and “Keep A Breast.”  Rodriguez says he wears the bracelet to support family members who have fought breast cancer.  Full Article

Mexicans fleeing into Texas to escape drug cartels

Budget cuts means more rats for New York City

ratsNew York – The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is slashing the number of pest control aides in an effort to save $1.5 million.  57 out of 84 full-time pest control aide positions will get the axe. The cuts are part of the Health Department’s efforts to meet a mandated 15 percent budget reduction to help close a $2 billion budget gap for the city.  Full Article

Pet shop owner fined for selling a goldfish to a boy

At most, pet shop owner Joan Higgins, 66, expected a slap on the wrist for breaking new animal welfare laws which ban the sale of pets to under 16-year-olds. Man Shoots Dog After Argument With Wife

shovelCLEARWATER, Florida – Police, while responding to reports of gunshots, found a dead dog and a passed out owner in a Clearwater backyard. Police learned Solovyev had an argument with his wife earlier and she left the house. He began drinking and became extremely intoxicated, and eventually turned the gun on the pup.  When police found Solovyev in his back yard, it appears he was in the process of burying the deceased dog, when he passed out. Full Article

Executive chef Payton Curry, who planned the menu, said they had received more than 100 e-mails and messages about their plans. Woman screamed terrorist while on airliner

unitedOmaha – A flight that left San Francisco headed for Washington, D.C., made an unplanned stop at Omaha’s Eppley Airfield after a passenger screamed “terrorist” while pointing at flight attendants and pushed her way into first class. Maria Rita Manzoni was charged Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Nebraska with interference with cabin or flight crew. If convicted, she could be fined or imprisoned up to 20 years.  Full Article

Man Jumps to Death From Empire State Building
