Robbers may have gotten away with cigarillos

Wisconsin – A convenience store clerk who saw two masked men enter the store via surveillance camera locked himself in the store’s office, thwarting the crook’s attempts to get into the cash register, police said. The clerk locked the office door and called 911. The clerk said they didn’t get into the cash register, but a couple of cigarillos could be missing. Full Article

Lolo, Montana – Jackiya D. Ford, 37, is accused of stealing a Lolo home – first by attempting to transfer the property deed over to herself, and then by physically moving in and changing the locks. “Jackiya does not want to enter a plea because she does not recognize the state of Montana as the entity,” said Paulette Ferguson, the public defender representing Ford. 
Idaho – The little tramp who kicks off this week’s mug shot roundup was busted in Idaho on a probation violation charge. Apparently the 25-year-old had to surrender his bowler and bamboo cane before the booking photo was snapped. 
Houston, Texas – Three Houston police officers have been assigned desk duties as city and federal authorities scrutinize the arrest of a local Chinese diplomat who says police hit him in the face during a traffic stop. Yu said he was traveling with his wife in a consulate vehicle when he saw a police patrol car with flashing lights behind him. Yu said he stopped his vehicle and waited several minutes, but drove off when the officer remained in his car and took no apparent action. 
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Just after 11 p.m., police received a report that a man, identified as Anthony Giovannini, 35, was struck with what he believed was a rock as he was walking inside of his house on the 400 block of Franklin Street. Giovannini told police that after being struck, he looked and observed his neighbor, later identified as Robert Wood, 41, entering his home. The victim then noticed an arrow protruding from his back. 
PALM BAY, Florida – It took 62-year-old Ruben Torres a New York minute to become a Palm Bay hero. That was the amount of time it took for the off-duty security guard to spot a suspected bank robber in the lobby of the Space Coast Credit Union, retrieve his gun, and hold the bandit until patrol officers arrived. Police credit Torres — who has a concealed-weapons permit — with thwarting the bank robbery at the credit union at 152 Malabar Road.

BERLIN, Germany – German police say a couple of hungry pigs digging for food came nose-to-nose with a long-buried World War II anti-tank weapon. Police said Friday the two pigs found the single-shot “panzerfaust” on private land southwest of Dresden. 
BAD FRANKENHAUSEN, Germany – Experts say a 183-foot-high leaning church tower in Bad Frankenhausen, Germany, may soon topple due to the unstable ground. The experts said historical records indicate the steeple of the Church of Our Beloved Ladies by the Mountain was leaning in 1640 and the tower has continued its slant to the northeast. 
Blue Springs, Missouri – It’s a ritual that happens all too often. A person turns 21 years old. So he or she is challenged to take 21 shots of an alcohol of choice, usually whiskey. A 21-year-old Independence man took the 21-shot challenge. The following day, he died from severe alcohol poisoning at an area hospital. 
Indonesia – Two people were arrested for making and selling meatballs from the meat of protected monkeys, an Indonesian animal conservation group said. The couple admitted that they had known what they did was against the law and they hunted the monkeys for their meat because beef and chicken were more expensive than the protected monkeys.

Nebraska – A Lincoln woman is accused of biting off part of a man’s ear who insulted her. Anna Mae Godfrey, 21, 1101 D St., was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault after an incident outside a house party on the 7400 block of Greenwood Street. Godfrey allegedly ran half a block, tackled the man and bit off a chunk of his right ear. 
Washington DC – For decades, public sector unions have peddled the fantasy that government employees were paid less than their counterparts in the private sector. In fact, the pay disparity is the other way around. Government workers, especially at the federal level, make salaries that are scandalously higher than those paid to private sector workers. 
Iran – Women with suntans are violating Islamic law and will be arrested in Iran, the capital city’s police chief was reported by The Daily Telegraph as saying. “The public expects us to act firmly and swiftly if we see any social misbehavior by women, and men, who defy our Islamic values,” Brigadier Hossien Sajedinia said. “In some areas of north Tehran we can see many suntanned women and young girls.” 
France – A three-year-old was arrested as a suspected terrorist and held at a French police station for more than two hours. The child – identified only as Daniel – is the son of an illegal immigrant from the Paris suburb of Juvisy. The pair were arrested as they returned to their car after visiting a leisure centre. Police officer claimed they were carrying out routine vehicle checks before arrested both father and son. 
WIGAN, England – A British mother said she pulled her 2-year-old from his nursery school after workers took away his cheese sandwich due to healthy eating rules. Dorothy Gallear, 32, said she pulled her son Jack, 2, from Westfield Children’s Center in Wigan, England, after employees took away the cheese sandwich he brought from home because it was not on the facility’s list of healthy foods. 
NORRKOPING, Sweden – A Swedish woman is facing forgery and fraud charges for borrowing $62,000 in her best friend’s name and using it to travel to Thailand for breast implants. The indictment against the Norrkoping woman says she tricked her friend into revealing her bank information with a story claiming she needed to deposit money and hide it from enforcement agencies. 
Boulder, Colorado – Ken and Carol Marcoux pulled their Toyota Prius over to the side of Independence Road to catch a tow plane and glider take to a beautiful blue sky, they spotted a small plane coming in from the east. To the couple’s horror, the plane — whose pilot was later identified as Joe Curtis, 67, of Commerce City — was pointed right at their car and approaching at what Marcoux estimated was 100 mph. 
Ohio – An inmate in a state prison was hospitalized and needed emergency surgery to remove a hot-sauce bottle he apparently had used as a sex device. Taxpayers will end up paying the prisoner’s medical bills, expected to run into the thousands of dollars. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction won’t release the name of the inmate, citing federal regulations regarding the privacy of medical records. 
Tacoma, Washington – Volunteers at a weekend work party at Fawcett Elementary School in East Tacoma came prepared to get their hands dirty. But some say they felt like they were working with one grubby hand tied behind their backs last weekend due to school district and union rules. He and other parents complain that district officials scaled back the scope of work planned by several dozen parents working with more than 100 volunteers from Comcast.
