Wisconsin – A convenience store clerk who saw two masked men enter the store via surveillance camera locked himself in the store’s office, thwarting the crook’s attempts to get into the cash register, police said. Houston, Texas – Three Houston police officers have been assigned desk duties as city and federal authorities scrutinize the arrest of a local Chinese diplomat who says police hit him in the face during a traffic stop. Yu said he was traveling with his wife in a consulate vehicle when he saw a police patrol car with flashing lights behind him. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Just after 11 p.m., police received a report that a man, identified as Anthony Giovannini, 35, was struck with what he believed was a rock as he was walking inside of his house on the 400 block of Franklin Street. Giovannini told police that after being struck, he looked and observed his neighbor, later identified as Robert Wood, 41, entering his home. The victim then noticed an arrow protruding from his back. PALM BAY, Florida – It took 62-year-old Ruben Torres a New York minute to become a Palm Bay hero. That was the amount of time it took for the off-duty security guard to spot a suspected bank robber in the lobby of the Space Coast Credit Union, retrieve his gun, and hold the bandit until patrol officers arrived. Sweden – When police received a call about an ongoing robbery at a shopping centre in Norrköping in eastern Sweden they dismissed the report as stag night antics and declined to send a unit. France – A three-year-old was arrested as a suspected terrorist and held at a French police station for more than two hours. The child – identified only as Daniel – is the son of an illegal immigrant from the Paris suburb of Juvisy. The pair were arrested as they returned to their car after visiting a leisure centre.
