Fathers entitled to breastfeeding leave

courtNutty News Europe – Europe’s top court has declared that working fathers in Spain are entitled to take breastfeeding leave everyday, even if the mother of the child is not employed. The new legislation means that both the mother and father are allowed to leave work for an hour during the day or reduce their working day by half an hour during the first nine months following the birth of a child. The European Union Court of Justice in Luxembourg ruled that the Spanish law caused an unjustified discrimination on grounds of sex because fathers do not have the same rights as mothers.  More…

A summary charge of disorderly conduct was filed against Isaac H. Stoltzfus, who presides over low-level cases as a district judge in Lancaster County. New York to replace 250,000 street signs, cost $27.5 million

wallNutty News New York City – New York officials said it will cost about $27.5 million to replace all of the city’s street signs to conform to national standards. The New York City Department of Transportation said the signs, which feature street names in all capital letters, will be replaced with signs featuring both capital and lower-case letters and they will be printed in a font called Clearview.  More…

fromm1Nutty News Florida – Louie Fromm, an assistant coach for the Holmes County Pee Wee Football Association, formally requested that the Vernon, Fla., City Council end the league’s traditional 50-yard-line pregame prayer ritual, alleging that his and his son’s First Amendmant rights are being violated. League officials say they are a private organization that takes no government money, and the city has no right to prevent them from saying prayers on the field before games. But Fromm says the league may be private, but the field on which it plays its games isn’t. It’s public property, Fromm says, and the city must order the pregame prayers to stop.  More…

clipWashington DC – The Consumer Product Safety Commission has been mired for weeks in deliberation as it writes guidelines on what makes a product a children’s product – and consequently which products would have to undergo more stringent safety testing as part of a 2008 law. Caught up in the debate are the classroom science kits and some of the items they contain, such as paper clips to show kids how magnets work. Science kit makers asked for a testing exemption for the paper clips and other materials. The commission declined.   More…

Man dies after downing a pint of vodka in four seconds

Mr Davies was found not breathing in a pool of his own blood, and died hours later. Recording a verdict of misadventure, Teesside coroner Tony Eastwood said the alcohol in his system had killed him. In a statement read out by deputy Teesside coroner Tony Eastwood, he said: “Richard drank a pint of vodka in four seconds or so.”  More…

Chen Shi, 16, died two days after enrolling in Beiteng School in Changsha, capital of central China’s Hunan province, having been beaten up when he refused to run during training. vdara-hotelNutty News Las Vegas – Guests at the new Vdara hotel have been complaining that because of an architectural flaw on the glass skyscraper, the sun’s rays are being magnified and reflected onto an area of the pool, causing severe burns. There have been reports that even plastic has melted from the heat. When hotel employees were ased about it, they’re kind of giggling and say: Yeah, we know. We call it the death ray.  They said it even melts plastic cups. A plastic Vdara bag holding a newspaper was also burned through by the sun.  More…

Gardener loses fingers trying to kill moles

The 34-year-old Aspach resident taped a pipe to the exhaust of his lawnmower and rammed the other end into the alley under a molehill to gas the animals. When he noticed that one of the moles tried to escape through the gap between the ground and the mower, he tried to grab it – and had two fingers chopped off his right hand by the rotating blades.  More…

Air Conditioner Falls Six Floors Onto Man

acNutty News New York – An air conditioner plunged from a building and slammed onto a man who was just walking below in Manhattan. Around 8:30 a.m., 67-year-old Tony Franzese was walking his dog as he does every morning. When an air conditioner fell out of a 6th floor window at 2nd Avenue and 3rd Street, it landed on an awning apparently bounced off and hit Franzese in the head. Red Deer RCMP say that 31-year-old Daryl Brownell loaded a rifle after a hearing a suspicious noise in his home early Sunday morning. When they approached the truck they found a young girl sleeping in the back seat, covered with a blanket. Her mother’s purse was on the front passenger seat floor, along with an empty 750 ml bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum. Former President Jimmy Carter Taken to Hospital, Air Sick
