A Summit County grand jury this week indicted Bishop Marc Neal on charges of felonious assault, misdemeanor assault and abduction. frogNutty News Alexandria, Virginia – A $600,000 frog sculpture that lights up, gurgles “sounds of nature” and carries a 10-foot fairy girl on its back could soon be greeting Defense Department employees who plan to start working at the $700 million Mark Center in Alexandria, Va. this fall. Only 2,500 will see the artwork every day as they use the bus transfer station at the Mark Center. According to the Corps, the artwork was the city’s idea. A city official, however, said that Alexandria officials didn’t demand art, but just asked that public artwork be included in the structure. What’s more, the official said that the $600,000 is federal money, and that no Alexandria funds will pay for the art.  More…

mongooseNutty News Kenya – Maasai honey harvesters face some stiff competition – from mongooses. They say that the mongooses raid the beehives at night and eat all the honey. It is believed locally they do this by farting – although animal behaviourists say they are not known to be particularly flatulent animals. “The mongooses are very clever animals. They normally climb up the trees where the beehives are,” says Mr Matampash, who runs Neighbours Initiative Alliance, a non-governmental organisation backing the beekeepers. “Once up there, they break wind – forcing the bees to flee from the foul smell and then they knock down the beehive and eat the honey.  More…

dog-packNutty News New Mexico – Bites from a relentless pack of dogs killed a 55-year-old man with a history of seizures who was found lying unconscious along the side of a road while the animals mauled him, a medical examiner’s report said. McKinley County deputies had to chase the dogs away so emergency medical technicians could help Larry Armstrong, who was found lying on the ground in the small community of Sundance, on Navajo Nation land near Gallup. “The dogs tried to come back, so we had to use pepper spray to keep them away while the EMTs attended to the victim,” sheriff’s Lt. Tom Mumford said. Armstrong later was pronounced dead at a hospital.  More…
