dumb-stupidNutty News Vallejo, California – A woman escaped two would-be robbers who allegedly accosted her in the driveway of her home. A female victim was just getting home, parked in her driveway and was getting stuff out of her car, when she was approached by two suspects, both black males age 18 to 25 and both wearing black hoodies. Suspect No. 1 stuck the gun in the victim’s ribs and demanded money. So, she took some money from her purse and gave it to them. But they demanded more, so she said she had more inside. Hotels don’t change the sheets between guests

motelNutty News Chicago, Illinois – Glenn Robins is grossed out. As a frequent traveler, he assumed the sheets on hotel beds are changed between guests. But a new TV ad by the Hampton Inn chain calls that assumption into question. It shows housekeepers changing sheets in hazmat suits, at what appears to be a competing hotel chain.  The implication was obviously that other hotels do not change the sheets for every new guest. It’s probably safe to say that all major hotel chains, including Hampton, instruct their housekeepers to change sheets between guests. Yes, you’ll always find some no-tell motel out in the sticks that tries to skip a guest or two, but as a general rule, the sheets are swapped out. But here’s a situation where the rules may allow a housekeeper to skip it: What if a guest checks in for one night and it appears the bed was unused? Is it OK to just tidy up, or should you strip it down to the mattress and replace the sheets?  More

amishNutty News Pennsylvania – A year long sting operation, including aliases, a 5 a.m. surprise inspection and surreptitious purchases from an Amish farm in Pennsylvania, culminated in the federal government announcing this week that it has gone to court to stop Rainbow Acres Farm from selling its contraband to willing customers in the Washington area. The product in question: unpasteurized milk. It’s a battle that’s been going on behind the scenes for years, with natural foods advocates arguing that raw milk, as it’s also known, is healthier than the pasteurized product, while the Food and Drug Administration says raw milk can carry harmful bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli and listeria.  More   True Crime Today

scamNutty News Wisconsin – Mall security alerted tenants that a man describing himself as Mark Stein was trying to dupe businesses out of money. He had called Trade Secret, a beauty supply shop, and asked for the manager by name. The manager wasn’t available, so the caller told the employee that he was from the corporate office and was calling about a customer who had lost her wallet at the store. He said a wallet was turned in the prior week with $1,200 but the money was missing when the owner came to claim it. He went on to say it needed to be replaced to avoid being sued by the rightful owner. The man instructed her to gather all the money in the store, get in a taxi and meet a man described as the owner’s fiancé at a McDonald’s in Milwaukee. She followed his directions and handed off more than $400 to a man. After returning to the store, the man called to tell her she did a good job and would be receiving a raise. If the store took in any more money that day, she was to deliver that, too, he added.  More   True Crime Today
