Nutty News Iowa – Michele Bachmann told supporters in Iowa of her lofty plans for American diplomacy, claiming that a Bachmann presidency would mean no U.S. embassy in Iran. Considering the recent hostility in the Iranian capital of Tehran against the British embassy, the comment might not seem particularly out of place — if not for the fact that the U.S. hasn’t actually had a functioning embassy in Iran since 1980. Nutty News Washington DC – The Obama Administration has abruptly sealed court records containing alarming details of how Mexican drug smugglers murdered a U.S. Border patrol agent with a gun connected to a failed federal experiment that allowed firearms to be smuggled into Mexico. The rifle used to kill the federal agent (Brian Terry) last December in Arizona’s Peck Canyon was part of the now infamous Operation Fast and Furious. Conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the disastrous scheme allowed guns to be smuggled into Mexico so they could eventually be traced to drug cartels. Nutty News Washington DC – What to do about growing numbers of neglected and abandoned horses in the US is an ethical conundrum that Congress and President Obama quietly addressed this month via a spending bill: bring back the slaughterhouses. A Department of Agriculture bill reinstates federal funding for USDA inspection of horse meat intended for human consumption, which Congress had withheld since 2006.
