Nurse convicted in bleach deaths case

Nutty News Lufkin, Texas – A former Texas nurse accused of  killing five of her patients and injuring five others by injecting bleach into  their kidney dialysis tubing was found guilty of capital murder. Kimberly Clark Saenz, 38, was fired in April 2008  after a rash of illnesses and deaths at a Lufkin dialysis clinic run by  Denver-based health care giant DaVita Inc. She was charged a year later. The mother of two now faces life in prison or a death sentence as the case moved  to the punishment phase.  Full Article

Pair tells bizarre stories after burglarizing vacant home

Nutty News Kentucky – He told police that he was just looking for a pregnant horse, which was loose. She says she was just out looking for peat moss in order to decorate for a wedding, and wasn’t wearing any shoes or a shirt while doing so. The two were allegedly trying to burglarize a vacant home in the Rockholds community only a few hundred yards from where they lived. Deputies charged Eric Wayne Flowers, 42, and Candice Louise Dodd, 40, both of Youngs Lane, Rockholds, with second-degree burglary.  Full Article

Prison’s Nutraloaf May Violate 8th Amendment

Nutty News USA – Nutraloaf is perhaps the most reviled food in the nation. It’s a meatloaf-like substance designed to meet a prisoner’s nutritional needs, and is often composed of leftover fruits, vegetables, meats and grains. It’s bad-tasting and is often used as a form of punishment. And according to a recent decision from the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, it could actually be used for something far worse. The court has reinstated a lawsuit brought by prisoner Terrance Prude. He has accused the Milwaukee County Jail of feeding him nutraloaf in violation of the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment.  Full Article

Cyclist suffers cardiac arrest, 3 doctors riding behind him

Nutty News Canada – Three doctors cycling behind a 45-year-old man rushed to his aid after the man suffered a possible cardiac arrest while biking. The man fell off his bike at about 2 p.m. near Bay Street. The three doctors – including a cardiologist – were cycling behind him at the time and immediately stopped to help. The man regained consciousness and was awake and talking while he was being taken to hospital in an ambulance.  Full Article
