HILLSBORO, Oregon – Hillsboro police were called to a vehicle crash in a driveway on NW Scott St involving a vehicle driven by a 5-year-old girl.
Officers’ investigation revealed that the girl’s 29-year -old uncle, identified as Derrick Charles Hess, of Beaverton was seated in the passenger seat of his 1988 Honda Accord while attempting to teach his 5-year-old niece how to start a car.
The niece was in the driver’s seat and had the clutch depressed on the manual transmission car while she started the engine.
