Man Fights State’s Denial Of ‘COPSLIE’ License Plate

New Hampshire – New Hampshire’s highest court is taking up just how much free speech is too much on a vanity license plate.

David Montenegro, who recently changed his name to “Human,” is representing himself in the free speech case in New Hampshire’s Supreme Court.

Human wants to have the vanity plate “COPSLIE” but the Department of Motor Vehicles says it’s offensive.

“The DMV has a regulation that prohibits vanity license plates which contain messages the DMV believes a reasonable person would find offensive,” Human told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
