NYPD disperses crowd outside sneaker store

shoesNew York – Police say a large crowd  gathered outside a SoHo store for the release of a pricey new sneaker had to be  dispersed when it spilled into the street.

Police say about 300 people  lined up in front of the Supreme New York on Lafayette Street around 5 p.m.  Wednesday.

By 8 p.m., the crowd had nearly doubled. Police say they dispersed  the crowd due to safety concerns. The store was closed at the time.

Video  posted on social media sites showed a peaceful but chaotic scene outside of the  store.  More
