veronicaChicago – To hide the shame of a weekend binge of cocaine and booze, a Chicago woman fabricated a scenario where she was instead kidnapped and held against her will in an abandoned building, authorities said.

Her concocted story drove duped Chicago commuters into a frenzy of fear and sympathy after learning she had been bonked on the head at a bus stop and dragged into a nearby dilapidated building, local reports explained.

The alleged 39-year-old victim, Veronica Fuentes, spilled the beans on her fake account to authorities before a court hearing on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Her claims sparked a boost in patrols near Chicago Transportation Authority’s Pulaski station and heralded the “Guardian Angels” to warn residents of the dangers she faced with the possible kidnappers still on the loose, according to WMAQ-TV.  More
