The ‘ghost’ airport that’s never been used

Despite being built nearly three years ago at a cost of $17 million, the terminal in Jaisalmer, in India’s north-western Rajasthan state, remains closed and is beginning to show signs of decay.

Seats in the waiting lounge are covered in a thick layer of dust, walls are stained, pigeons nest in the roof and the bones of dead animals are scattered at the entrance.

Its baggage carousels have never been used, the check-in counters are closed, the VIP lounge sits in darkness and the only visitors are cleaners and security guards who have been hired to patrol the grounds.  More
