jamesCalifornia – The death of a Navy SEAL trainee who drowned after being repeatedly ‘dunked’ during a pool exercise has been ruled a homicide.

James ‘Derek’ Lovelace, 21, died during training on May 6 at the Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado, California, while undergoing ‘drown-proofing’ tests.

Today a San Diego coroner ruled the death a ‘drowning homicide’ after he found the actions SEALs instructor supervising Lovelace to be ‘excessive.’
