bibbA Georgia man who attempted an armed robbery at a McDonald’s Saturday foiled his own plans when he accidentally shot himself in the thigh, according to authorities.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Donte Sherrod Grayer went inside a southern Georgia McDonald’s around 11 p.m. Saturday wearing a black and red wig and showed the store manager his handgun.

The manager complied to Grayer’s demands and allowed him into the back office. Grayer then accidentally shot himself, running out of the restaurant.

“A short time later, witnesses stated that they heard a male screaming for help,” the sheriff’s office said in a release. “The male was found wearing only his boxers. He was lying near the wig, several articles of clothing and money, (which were) all connected to the armed robbery.”

Grayer was taken to the hospital and will be arrested upon his release.
