Police said the driver has been reported to court.

A Dozen Camels Disqualified From Saudi Beauty Pageant Over Botox Injections

camelsA camel beauty contest in Saudi Arabia disqualified a dozen camels for receiving Botox injections to make them more attractive.

Saudi media reported that a veterinarian was caught performing plastic surgery on the camels a few days before the pageant, according to UAE’s The National. In addition to the injections, the clinic was surgically reducing the size of the animals’ ears to make them appear more delicate.

“They use Botox for the lips, the nose, the upper lips, the lower lips and even the jaw,” Ali Al Mazrouei, a regular at such festivals and the son of a prominent Emirati breeder, told the newspaper. “It makes the head more inflated so when the camel comes it’s like, ‘Oh look at how big that head is. It has big lips, a big nose.’ ”

Real money is at stake: About $57 million is awarded to winners of the contests and camel races, The National reports, with more than $31.8 million in prizes for just the pageants.

The festival provides a number of informative graphics about camels, including a diagram titled Standards of Camel Beauty. It is sadly unspecific about what makes for handsome nostrils and withers, though it does mention a “leathery mouth.”

The beauty contest, launched in 2000, is a centerpiece of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival. Last year, authorities moved the festival from a remote location in the desert to a site an hour and a half from Riyadh, and this year attendance has increased by a third, according to Reuters.

“The camel,” the chief judge of the show, Fawzan al-Madi, told the newswire, “is a symbol of Saudi Arabia. We used to preserve it out of necessity, now we preserve it as a pastime.”

potPennsylvania State Police say a fleeing suspect was accidentally run over by a bulldozer as officers responded to a scene on state game lands that contained 10 marijuana plants.

Police say Gregory Longenecker,  51, of Reading, Pennsylvania, was found dead under a bulldozer that an officer and a game commission employee were using to search for him in “thick underbrush” on Monday.

Local police arrived at the scene on state game lands in Berks County, Pennsylvania around 10 a.m. after a game commission employee saw a car “parked well off the road in a field,” State Police said in a release.

Soon after police arrived, two men came out of the underbrush and fled on foot. One was taken into custody and the other, Longenecker, escaped, police say.

State police then arrived and used a helicopter and the bulldozer in their search for Longenecker. The helicopter briefly spotted Longenecker, lost him and communicated his last known position to the bulldozer.

hoodA man in Texas strapped a washing machine to the hood of his SUV and drove with it that way.

Someone spotted the SUV at the Stripes convenience store across from Dyess Air Force Base and called the Abilene Police Department.

Police told KTXS that they tracked the driver down at his home in the 6100 block of South 7th. Street and let him off with a warning instead of giving him a ticket.

If they would’ve issued the driver a ticket, police said it would have been issued for “obstruction of operator’s view or driving mechanism.”

The man told police he was “going to sell it.”

Man with world’s longest fingernails finally cuts them off

nailsThey took 66 years to grow but only a couple of minutes to chop off. On Wednesday, Shridhar Chillal from Pune, India, who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails ever recorded on a single hand, finally cut his nails. Or rather, a technician wearing a face mask and wielding a power tool carefully removed them during a “nail clipping ceremony” in New York.

The 82-year-old has been growing the nails on his left hand since he was 14, having been inspired to do so after a teacher told him off when he accidentally broke a very long nail the teacher had grown. The teacher told Chillal that he wouldn’t understand the kind of care it took not to break a long nail unless he did it himself. Chilal certainly took that to heart: when last measured, his nails had a combined length of 29ft 10.1in, which is about the same length as a London bus. His longest nail was on his thumb.

It’s not an easy business growing the world’s longest nails. Chillal has saidthat his nails were so fragile that he has to be very careful not to break them while sleeping: “I can’t move much, so every half an hour or so I wake up and move my hand to the other side of the bed.” He was also in pain all the time from them. But his talons do come with some perks. “I never have to wait in a queue,” he told Guinness World Records.

Thieves get the bad oil from bus sewage tank

tankOpportunistic petrol thieves may have lost their appetite for crime after seemingly copping a taste of raw sewage in a botched siphoning attempt.

Laverton Police Sen. Sgt Heath Soutar said a visiting tour bus fell victim to an attempted theft last week.

Sen. Sgt Soutar said it appeared the would-be thief or thieves tried to siphon fuel from the parked bus during the night.

However, they got a bit more than they bargained for when they accidentally accessed the bus’ waste tank instead of the one containing fuel.

Sen. Sgt Soutar said the discarded cap and lack of fuel stolen suggested they had failed to get away with what they were hoping to steal.

“We can infer they beat a very hasty retreat, with a somewhat bitter taste in their mouth, ” he said.

Sen. Sgt Soutar said that while Laverton Police were looking for the offenders, police officers “have absolutely zero interest” in tracking down the stolen goods.

He did however say officers were hoping “word of mouth” would help crack the case.

Georgia police use coin toss to decide whether to arrest woman

copsTwo police officers in Georgia have been suspended after they used a coin toss to decide whether to arrest a 24-year-old motorist they stopped for speeding, police said.

The officers stopped the motorist in April when she was running late for work at an Atlanta hair salon and sped past them at around 80 miles (130 km) per hour on a wet road, according to a police statement and video footage of the incident released by a local television station.

The two female police officers then discussed whether to give motorist Sarah Webb a speeding ticket or arrest her for reckless driving, according to a police statement released on Friday.

They decided to flip a coin to decide it: heads, arrest; tails, release, according to the statement by the Roswell Police Department.

Officer Courtney Brown used a coin flip app on her mobile phone and the toss went against Webb, with Brown and the other officer, Kristee Wilson, giggling as they began to write up charges, according to the video.

Atlanta news station 11 Alive alerted Webb of the footage. Webb filed a request to see it, and its release led to all charges being dropped against her at a July 9 court hearing.

“I am appalled that any law enforcement officer would trivialize the decision-making process of something as important as the arrest of a person,” Roswell Police Department Chief Rusty Grant said in the statement, adding that an investigation had been launched and the officers were on administrative leave.

flamesNeighbors are still in shock after hearing their neighbor allegedly set his girlfriend on fire after dousing her in gasoline.

According to The Carroll County Sheriff’s office, Robert Nethercutt set his girlfriend on fire on their property. Neighbors said she then ran over to her next door neighbor’s house to use this spigot to put out the fire.

Neighbor Kay Adcock said she didn’t hear any noises last night until the woman was outside trying to put out the flames on her body.

“She said it scorched her hair and stuff like that,” Adcock said. “She was complaining about her side really burning and was really hot but said the whole back side of that trailer is nothing but gas. ”

Nethercutt was arrested Wednesday night at a home on County Road North 95 East in Burrows. Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputies reported alcohol was believed to be a factor.

Mary Bounds considers Nethercutt as one of the family. She said she knows he has a problem.

“I know how he gets when he drinks too much,” said Nethercutt. “But being the Christian that I am, I’ve got to forgive him. I just have to forgive him and love him like he is.”

The woman has been released from Saint Joesph’s hospital in Kokomo.

A Teenager Got A USB Cable Stuck In His Penis

usbA 13-year-old boy from China was “curious” about his genitalia and, for some reason, decided that the best way to satisfy his curiosity would be to slowly insert a phone charger through his urethral orifice. He managed to insert 20 centimeters (7.8 inches) of it into his urethra. If you are already uncomfortable, look away because things get worse than this.

In the hospital, medical practitioners lubricated the cable and attempted to extract it. They were not only unsuccessful but caused significant pain to the unnamed teenager. He was then transferred to Harbin Children’s Hospital where he underwent more detailed examinations by Doctor Xu Liyan, the facility’s resident urologist.

“He cut off one end of the cable and inserted it into his urethra.” Dr Xu explained, as reported in the Daily Mirror. “The cable reached his bladder, where it tangled and ended up in a knot, so when he tried to pull it back out, it became stuck.”

When the complexity of the situation became clear, the only option was to operate. Dr Xu and her team had to reach the boy’s bladder, cut the knot, and then remove part of it through the surgical incision. The remaining cord was pulled out through the urethra.

The teenager was discharged a few days ago after about two weeks in the hospital.

earThe argument began when the woman walked in and started griping to the husband and wife owners of China 1 Restaurant about her food, according to deputies. The owners’ son acted as a translator during the spat, the Detroit News reports.

Though the fight initially only involved the wife, her son and Anderson, the husband intervened after Anderson began roughing up his wife, WXYZ reports. And then, as they were shoving her out of the restaurant, she chomped down on the male owner’s ear, according to deputies.

Multiple 911 calls reporting the brawl captured just how loud and violent it was — and one of those calls was made by the son himself.

When WXYZ went to the restaurant Friday, reporters found a sign on the door reading: “We are not opening today because of some reasons.”
