Man given three tickets by ‘the smoke police’ for having a cigarette alone in his SUV

Posted By Staff

Date: June 3rd, 2017

vanLONDON, Ontario – Harry Kraemer knows darn well that smoking isn’t good for you but it’s a 60-year habit he doesn’t want to break.

The 76-year-old owner of Sparkles Cleaning Service is a healthy guy who loves a puff or two when he’s alone, sometimes at home with the windows open in his rec room or in his Porsche SUV, minding his own business and away from others who could breathe in his second-hand fumes.

What he doesn’t like are those he calls “the smoke police,” the Smoke-Free Ontario enforcement officers who he believes have placed a no-smoking sign as a target on his back.

The provincial anti-smoking laws set out stringent rules banning smoking in enclosed workplaces, enclosed public places, outdoor patios and vehicles where children are passengers and other spaces to protect people from second-hand smoke.  More

Man’s family name was dubbed socially unacceptable

grabA Nova Scotia man said the province revoked his personalized license plate because his unusual family name, Grabher, was dubbed “socially unacceptable.”

Lorne Grabher said he has no problem getting a “GRABHER” license plate for his father in 1991, but in December he received a letter from the Nova Scotia Registrar of Motor Vehicles saying his own vanity plate was being revoked after a complaint.

He said the letter branded his license plate “socially unacceptable” because it can be read as “grab her,” which could be seen as promoting violence against women.  More

Couple Had Their Baby Taken Away Because They Were Too Old

Posted By Staff

Date: March 14th, 2017

too oldAre you ever too old to become a parent? Well, the Italian justice system seems to think so, and the tragic story of Gabriella and Luigi De Ambrosis, an elderly couple who had their natural daughter taken away and put up for adoption because they were deemed too old to take care of her is proof enough.

In 2009, 57-year-old Gabriella and 69-year-old Luigi, of Casale Monferrato, Italy, decided to have a baby, and traveled abroad to undergo an advanced in-vitro procedure.

In May 2010, Gabriella gave birth to a healthy baby daughter, and the couple made national headlines.

They became known as the “grandparent parents”, and faced discrimination from people deeming them too old to take care of a baby.  More

Posted By Staff

Date: March 5th, 2017

rat meatWASHINGTON – U.S. officials didn’t seize thousands of pounds of imported rat meat prior to the Super Bowl and they never issued a warning saying restaurants and food stores could be selling it as chicken wings, despite reports shared widely on multiple websites.

The stories posted last month claim federal customs officials at the Port of San Francisco seized several thousands of pounds of rat meat imported from China.

They also mention an FDA warning that some 300,000 pounds of rat meat could still be in circulation as Super Bowl parties approached.  More

State Licensing Rules Could Send A Woman To Jail Just for Touching a Horse

Posted By Staff

Date: February 17th, 2017

horseIf Laurie Wheeler puts her hands on a horse, she could go to jail.

Not because she would hurt the animal—she’d never think of doing such a thing—but because of an anonymous complaint submitted to the state’s licensing board that governs veterinary medicine.

Wheeler has been studying horse massage since 2010, when she adopted an abandoned horse suffering from a potentially life-threatening neurological condition known as equine protozoal myeloencephalitis.

Her horse, Jazz, was treated with a mix of medication and massage therapy, and Wheeler became interested in the practice.  More

Posted By Staff

Date: February 15th, 2017

lincolnDENVER - A number of questions are being raised after a call to 911 is said to have gone unanswered for more than 15 minutes.

The call was made to report an armed robbery in the Whittier neighborhood on Sunday at approximately 8 p.m.

Michael Davanzo was at work at the Whittier Cafe when he says the Lincoln Market next door was robbed.

“The cashier and one of the patrons from next door were at our front door trying to get in, so we ran up front real quick and unlocked it and let them in,” Davanzo said.

The two men who showed up at the door had already called 911 for help.  More

The postcard, which was written by someone named “Chris,” reads: “[I am] enjoying myself greatly. The weather is very humid … I’ll try and drop you a note in England.”  More

Miami Sprays Dangerous Insecticide That Causes Microcephaly

Posted By Staff

Date: August 8th, 2016

sprayFlorida – The Zika scare has not only stirred massive media hysteria; it has now unleashed a dangerous campaign to spray a neurotoxic chemical over the city of Miami and surrounding areas.

What damage it will cause remains to be seen, but its use as a means of controlling mosquitoes and stopping Zika should raise serious alarm bells, as its effectiveness has already been discredited and its risks are unacceptable.

The crew and aircraft used in the operation was flown in from Sarasota. The King Air Beechcraft fixed-wing, dual-engine plane is specially equipped with nozzles on the wing to disperse the chemical, called Naled, that is meant to kill adult mosquitoes that could be carrying the Zika virus.

Naled can cause respiratory problems in people who are exposed to it and long term exposure can cause possible neurological problems, according to Cornell University.  More

NASA shuts down live International Space Station feed as ‘mysterious UFO enters Earth’s atmosphere’

Posted By Staff

Date: July 13th, 2016

ufoUFO spotters have raised the alarm after the International Space Station live feed cut out just as a large mysterious object appeared to enter Earth’s atmosphere.

The incident occurred on July 9 and was first reported by prolific UFO hunter Streetcap1 in a video uploaded the same day.

The enthusiast did not directly imply that the object was an alien spacecraft saying: “This could well be a meteor or the like.

But he implied that the camera being turned off was slightly sinister: “What made it interesting was that the camera cut off when the UFO seemed to stop.”  More
