Date: June 7th, 2016

seaSea lice are popping up all over Gulf Coast beaches. While many sightings are along the panhandle, biologists say they expect to start seeing more move south along the coastline.

Sea lice are microscopic and impossible to spot in the water. They aren’t the kind of lice you may be thinking of.

Sea lice are actually jellyfish larvae and while they are tiny, they still have the same stinging cells as a full grown jellyfish, and they’ll leave a mark.

The rash they cause is called sunbathers eruption.  Source

zamanA penny-pinching restaurant boss was today jailed for six years after being found guilty of killing a customer by serving him a meal containing ground peanuts and triggering a fatal allergic reaction.

Mohammed Zaman, 53, used cheaper ground peanuts at his restaurants, rather than almond powder, resulting in the manslaughter of nut allergy sufferer Paul Wilson, 38, in North Yorkshire.

Mr Wilson never recovered after eating a takeaway curry from the Indian Garden in Easingwold, despite telling staff he could not eat nuts – and a judge has now blasted Zaman as ‘reckless’.

Recorder of Middlesbrough Judge Simon Bourne-Arton said Zaman had built up his businesses since arriving in Britain 40 years and gathered a property portfolio worth more than £2million.  More

Imbalances in the gut microbiome can contribute to a number of complex conditions, including obesity, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and allergies, studies have shown.

But, for the first time, scientists believe traces of the bacteria can survive outside the body, raising the possibility that it could be ingested.  More

showerA recent survey found that as many as a third of all Brits do not shower every day, but they may not be as stinky as you think.

According to one expert, showers are really only needed about twice a week.

Dr Elaine Larson, an infectious disease expert at Columbia University School of Nursing, told Time magazine that a shower a day is not necessary – at least for your skin.

“People think they are showering or to be cleaner, but bacteriologically, that’s not the case,” she said.  More
