opossumAn off-duty Florida sheriff’s deputy helped capture an opossum that fell from the ceiling into an apartment resident’s bedroom.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Deputy Eric Phillips was working an off-duty detail at a Lake Mary apartment complex early Saturday morning when a resident called to report a furry intruder in his bedroom.

Phillips determined the opossum had fallen through the attic opening in the ceiling of the man’s apartment and fled behind the nightstand.

“Phillips, the resident, and a friend were able to capture the critter using a blanket and plastic bin,” the sheriff’s office said. “Instead of charging the intruder with breaking and entering and resisting arrest, the opossum was released on it’s own recognizance.”

The sheriff’s office said the incident was “the stuff nightmares are made of.”

gopArizona Republican Kelli Ward and one of her staffers accused John McCain of announcing that he was about to die at a time that would harm their campaign.

Veteran Arizona TV reporter Brahm Resnik shared tweets between the staffer and Ward herself, in which they bantered about the timing of McCain’s announcement that he was dying.

“I wonder if John McCain’s trying to steal attention from Ward’s bus tour by announcing his life is coming to an end,” the staffer wrote.

Ward, a Trump-loving extremist who primaried McCain in 2016, had a contentious relationship with McCain, who she frequently slammed.

Ward is now running for Sen. Jeff Flake’s seat (R-AZ), and agreed that McCain was trying to have a “negative” effect on her by dying.

After Resnik pointed out Ward’s comment she deleted it and posted a statement accusing the “fake” news of pushing a narrative.

“I think they wanted to have a particular narrative that was negative to me,” Ward wrote in response to the conspiracy theory.

Florida Candidate Says Alien Abduction Claim Doesn’t Define Her

alienU.S. House candidate Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera has a long list of accomplishments to bolster her campaign in Florida. But she is perhaps best known for claiming that she was abducted by space aliens as a child.

Rodriguez Aguilera is a longshot in the race for the Miami-area seat being vacated by retiring Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Yet last weekend, the Miami Herald endorsed her for the GOP nomination in the Tuesday primary out of a field of nine candidates.

In an interview, Rodriguez Aguilera said she is grateful for the endorsement and that her tale of kidnapping by aliens does not define her.

“It has nothing to do with what I have done. It happened when I was 7 years old,” she said. “I am so proud of the Herald and what they did.”

Rodriguez Aguilera says she was taken aboard a spaceship as a young girl by blond extraterrestrials who resembled the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. She says they told her that the “center of the world’s energy is Africa” and that thousands of non-human skulls were once discovered in a cave on the Mediterranean island of Malta.

She has said she witnessed paranormal activity since then and saw a UFO at age 17. She also said she has been in touch with the aliens telepathically long after the abduction.

breakIn the world of relationships, this would not be considered the most subtle way to end one.

Chase RCMP report that they received a request for assistance on Aug. 16.

When officers arrived, a 42-year-old man asked them to speak with his ex-girlfriend about not attending his residence anymore.

“Police spoke with the woman who was unaware the relationship had ended,” says Cpl. Scott Linklater in a news release.

“The woman advised that she understood the relationship is now over and will no longer contact the man.”

Patient waited 62 hours for ambulance

ambulanceA patient waited 62 hours for an ambulance, while four trusts took more than 24 hours to respond to 999 calls, new figures have shown.

The longest delays in the UK were recorded by Welsh Ambulance Service, which kept four patients waiting for more than 50 hours.

A spokesman said the figures were “not typical” and “represent the extreme end of the waiting time spectrum”.

The Patients Association said they were “extremely concerning”.

Between June 2017 and June 2018, ambulances from four services took 24 hours to reach patients, including some with breathing and mental health problems.

The trusts said the longest waits were for “less serious calls”, and they had to prioritise responding to people in life-threatening or urgent conditions.

Most ambulance services also reported achieving the national target of responding to the most serious type of call in an average of eight minutes or less.

Caroline Hardaker’s mother Sylvia, 79, lay on paving stones in her back garden for three-and-a-half hours after falling and breaking her hip in High Wycombe.

She said: “I think I rang six times in the end, and each time they said they would have a clinician call back and then they didn’t.

“It was so frustrating, just thinking ‘how long are they going to take’? And my mum was going into shock, her arms were shaking. Her arm had gone numb.

“She was obviously cold because she was lying on a pavement.

“The ambulance and hospital staff have been fantastic – its not their fault, the whole system is breaking down.

“When I was a child you were told it would be a maximum of eight minutes for an ambulance, but three-and-a-half hours is completely unacceptable.”

diesPolice in Ardmore, Oklahoma are investigating after a woman was mauled to death by a pack of mixed dachshunds.

Tracy Garcia, 52, was near her home on May 7th when a pack of seven dogs attacked her, KXII-TV reports. She later died at the hospital.

As first responders on the scene tried to help the woman, one of the dogs turned on them.

“Unfortunately, yes. We had to shoot one dog,” Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant told KFOR. “It did charge our deputies and to protect our deputies, as well as the medical personnel, we did have to put down a dog.”

The dogs were all dachshund mixes, according to Ardmore Animal Shelter’s euthanasia technician Amanda Dinwiddie. Six of the dogs are believed to be standard dachshund and terrier mixes, and one of the dogs was a standard dachshund border collie mix. The dogs ranged in age from 1 to 3 years old.

Baby poo probiotic ‘cocktail’ could help fight disease, say scientists

pooBaby poo contains probiotics that could boost gut health and combat a variety of diseases, scientists have said.

A probiotic “cocktail” made from gut bacteria strains found in baby faeces, which could improve overall health and help weight loss, was developed at Wake Forest School of Medicine in North Carolina.

“Babies are usually pretty healthy and clearly do not suffer from age-related diseases, such as diabetes and cancer.

“And, of course, their poop is readily available,” said the study’s lead author Dr Hariom Yadav.

The healthy probiotic cocktail was created using the dirty nappies of 34 infants.

It boosted the short-chain fatty acids in the gut bacteria of mice during experiments – making them more resistant to illnesses that attack the immune system.

The US team said that baby faeces may be the key to fighting various diseases.

People who suffer from bloating or poor digestion have often been advised to eat fermented foods containing probiotics, including yoghurt and sauerkraut.

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts, and are often described as “good” or “friendly” bacteria.

While probiotics are thought to help restore natural balance of bacteria, there is little evidence to support the many health claims made about them.

dollCindy Moore, 31, from Salford, Greater Manchester, has had a breast enlargement, three lip fillers a month and hair extensions in an attempt to achieve her perfect look. Despite the amount she has spent, Cindy still isn’t satisfied, and wants to go under the knife again to complete her makeover.

Cindy said: ‘I want another boob job and probably a tummy tuck. I’m lucky because of my skin I don’t really need Botox.’ Cindy said that she has loved the ‘fake’ look since turning 19, when she started bleaching her long hair and wearing lots of makeup.

But it was when she found out her fiancé and father of her two children was having an affair that inspired her to create the look she has today.

She explained: ‘When we split last year I looked at myself in the mirror and just thought ‘this needs to go’, so I trained hard and cut the carbs and lost it really rapidly.’

Cindy said she has ‘always liked the bimbo blow-up doll look’, and that she knew  it was the right look for her after appearing Channel 5’s reality TV show 100% Hotter, which aired in February this year.

The show takes men and women with extreme looks and tries to give them a more natural makeover, but it had the opposite effect on Cindy.

She said: ‘I think the point of the TV show was to show me that I looked better with a natural look, but it just had the opposite effect really. All I could think was: “I’ve got a long way to go.”

She now gets lip injections, worth £250 a go, three times a month, with her new look making her incredibly popular on social media, where she has over 40,000 followers on Instagram.

Bizarre condition allows man to twist his feet nearly 180 degrees and walk completely unopposed

walkKnown as Mr. Elastic, this dexterous man can turn his feet nearly 180 degrees backwards and walk – breaking two world records.

Moses Lanham (57) has a mind-bending ability to completely contort his legs and still be able to walk, thanks to a bizarre condition resulting from a rope-climbing accident 43 years ago.

He possesses double cartilage and extra tissue in his knee joints, hips and ankles.

During gym class, when he was just 14, Moses fell from more than 5m when he lost his grip on a rope – crashing down to the ground and landing awkwardly.

At first it was believed something was dislocated, but Moses soon discovered he had a new-found ability.

He can now twist his feet completely behind him along with his knees, which means the two halves of Moses’ body appear to be facing opposite directions as he casually strides down the road.

Speaking to The Wizard of Odd TV Moses admits it’s actually “more comfortable” for him to walk this way.

“I think as far as I know I’m the only one in the world that’s able to turn their feet backwards and walk. I’ve heard one other person can turn his feet, but not walk.”

Moses, who’s a former record holder of the world’s most flexible feet title, is also currently the world’s fastest man to walk with his feet backwards over 20m.

“I can do this because of double cartilage in my knees, hips and ankles that allows me to rotate my feet backwards. A lot of people ask me if it hurts or feels uncomfortable – it’s actually more comfortable this way.

“When I perform this in front of people I love the reactions.  A lot of people are just amazed. One time, I’ve actually had a person throw up after I turned my feet around.”

He shot at five women on the road — because he thinks only men should drive, Texas cops say

290First, he said shooting the driver next to him was “in self-defense” because she swerved over toward his lane.

When he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from the shooting of a woman in Katy, Texas, he told authorities he had done it before — maybe five times, as the Star-Telegram reported last month.

But now that Nicholas Dagostino is charged in a second road-rage shooting — where another woman was hit in the arm while driving, this time in March, according to court documents, prosecutors say the picture is becoming more clear.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office say that Dagostino has targeted female drivers specifically on the streets of Katy and the surrounding area, citing Facebook posts in which he describes female drivers as “incompetent” and writing “that their sole purpose is to give birth to male children,” according to those court documents.

He was arrested again Thursday, according to Harris County Jail records, after being released on bond three days earlier, in connection with the July attack on a 39-year-old woman as she drove down Mason Road in Katy.

Dagostino spent six weeks in jail on that charge before being released after posting the $75,000 bond in his case, so prosecutors argued for a higher bond on the next charge, according to the court documents.

The 39-year-old Katy mother and her family worried, according to KTRK, that he would harm someone else before his trial.

But two days later, he was back in jail in connection with the March 7 shooting of a woman as she pulled out of a gas station in the Katy area. That woman, according to KRIV, heard a loud noise but didn’t immediately realize she’d been shot.

Now, prosecutors believe, it’s all happened because Dagostino holds such a “dim view of women,” the court documents say. He could be seen shaking his head as a Harris County prosecutor read the allegations against him, according to courtroom video obtained by KRIV.

It’s netted Dagostino another aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, but this time, his bond is set at $250,000 according to jail records.

trainAn Austrian man has tried to board two passenger trains with his horse named Frieda.

But train conductors refused to continue the journey with Frieda aboard.

Photos of the young man holding Frieda surrounded by laughing passengers were shared on Twitter and retweeted by state rail company OeBB.

“We hope this will stay a one-off,” OeBB spokeswoman Julianne Pamme was quoted by Austrian news agency APA as saying, adding that horses could be dangerous, for example if the train had to break suddenly.

OeBB guidelines stipulate that small, harmless animals in closed and secure containers, as well as dogs on leashes and wearing muzzles can be taken on trains.

It’s not the first time a horse owner has tried to board a train with their four-legged companion.

In 2011, a man was captured on CCTV lead his pony along a Wales train platform after buying two tickets – for himself and the animal.

Like Freida, the white pony was deemed too big for train travel by conductors.

missingHelena’s Parks & Recreation department is on the hunt for sasquatch (often referred to as Bigfoot) after a cardboard cutout of the mythical creature was stolen sometime within the last few days.

The sasquatch was stationed near the Beattie Street Trailhead on the Pay Dirt trail as part of a campaign by the Parks department to encourage people to explore trails, learn about Helena, and take selfies with the cutout.

Someone notified the city on Tuesday about the disappearance after discovering the cable locks and zip ties securing the sasquatch near Mt. Ascension had been severed and the cutout was missing.

Parks & Recreation director Amy Teegarden said her department notified Helena police to be on the lookout for the stolen property.

Teegarden said she’s disappointed in the theft considering how popular sasquatch is among the community.

The program launched at the beginning of the summer, and Teegarden said she was originally concerned about the cutout’s safety, but was encouraged that no one tampered with it – until now.

“You know it spoiled some of the fun. I’m hoping that whoever decided they needed to take sasquatch will return him. No questions asked,” Teegarden said.

The stolen sasquatch was actually one of two cutouts out in public. The original still sits on Mt. Helena.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of sasquatch is asked to email jschade@helenamt.gov or call 406-447-8463.

poopAccording to South Wales Police there have been a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour reported in the lane over the past month.

A 63-year-old man was given a caution for assault after punching a man who confronted him about defecating outside the man’s house.

In another incident a 41-year-old man who defecated outside a house in the lane was given an anti-social behaviour referral and a banning letter from using the lane.

Three teenagers have also been given anti-social behaviour referrals after they urinated outside a house.

Local officers are using anti-social behaviour legislation to ban people who are causing problems from using the lane.

The Safer Vale Partnership, which includes South Wales Police and the local authority, will be issuing banning letters to anyone participating in street drinking, verbal abuse, littering and urinating in the lane.

“Urinating and defecating in public is unsightly and blights the image of the town. It will not be tolerated by us or the Safer Vale partnership.

“We will adopt a zero tolerance approach and continue our partnership work to make the town welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

The proposed ban would be for a minimum of six months.

Sergeant Julie Madoc-Smart, from Penarth police station, said: “We understand the impact anti-social behaviour can have on the community and we take incidents of anti-social behaviour very seriously

North Carolina student punished after calling teacher ‘ma’am’

mamA 10 year old from Tarboro, North Carolina was punished in class for saying “yes ma’am” to his teacher, reports WTVD.

The parents of Tamarion Wilson say the fifth grader came home from school visibly disappointed. He pulled a sheet of paper out of his book bag, covered front and back with the handwritten word “ma’am.”

Apparently the teacher asked the student not to call her “ma’am,” and when he did so, she had him write the word repeatedly as punishment. He was instructed to take it home and have it signed by his parents. The teacher also said “if she had something, she would have thrown it at him,” according to Wilson. The teacher later said she wasn’t being serious.

Teretha Wilson and McArthur Bryant, Tamarion’s parents, called the teacher’s actions inappropriate. They explained their son was raised to refer to elders as “sir” and “ma’am,” and he was not being disrespectful.

The parents met with the teacher and principal to discuss the incident and request their son be moved to a different classroom, to which the principal agreed. However, they want to make sure something similar doesn’t happen to another child. “If it happened to my son,” said Bryant, “I’m pretty sure if not a week, a day, a month, a year, it will occur to somebody else’s child.”

According to the school, the teacher in question has several years of experience. A school official released the following statement: “This is a personnel matter which has been handled appropriately by the K-7 principal.”
