trainAn Austrian man has tried to board two passenger trains with his horse named Frieda.

But train conductors refused to continue the journey with Frieda aboard.

Photos of the young man holding Frieda surrounded by laughing passengers were shared on Twitter and retweeted by state rail company OeBB.

“We hope this will stay a one-off,” OeBB spokeswoman Julianne Pamme was quoted by Austrian news agency APA as saying, adding that horses could be dangerous, for example if the train had to break suddenly.

OeBB guidelines stipulate that small, harmless animals in closed and secure containers, as well as dogs on leashes and wearing muzzles can be taken on trains.

It’s not the first time a horse owner has tried to board a train with their four-legged companion.

In 2011, a man was captured on CCTV lead his pony along a Wales train platform after buying two tickets – for himself and the animal.

Like Freida, the white pony was deemed too big for train travel by conductors.

missingHelena’s Parks & Recreation department is on the hunt for sasquatch (often referred to as Bigfoot) after a cardboard cutout of the mythical creature was stolen sometime within the last few days.

The sasquatch was stationed near the Beattie Street Trailhead on the Pay Dirt trail as part of a campaign by the Parks department to encourage people to explore trails, learn about Helena, and take selfies with the cutout.

Someone notified the city on Tuesday about the disappearance after discovering the cable locks and zip ties securing the sasquatch near Mt. Ascension had been severed and the cutout was missing.

Parks & Recreation director Amy Teegarden said her department notified Helena police to be on the lookout for the stolen property.

Teegarden said she’s disappointed in the theft considering how popular sasquatch is among the community.

The program launched at the beginning of the summer, and Teegarden said she was originally concerned about the cutout’s safety, but was encouraged that no one tampered with it – until now.

“You know it spoiled some of the fun. I’m hoping that whoever decided they needed to take sasquatch will return him. No questions asked,” Teegarden said.

The stolen sasquatch was actually one of two cutouts out in public. The original still sits on Mt. Helena.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of sasquatch is asked to email jschade@helenamt.gov or call 406-447-8463.

poopAccording to South Wales Police there have been a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour reported in the lane over the past month.

A 63-year-old man was given a caution for assault after punching a man who confronted him about defecating outside the man’s house.

In another incident a 41-year-old man who defecated outside a house in the lane was given an anti-social behaviour referral and a banning letter from using the lane.

Three teenagers have also been given anti-social behaviour referrals after they urinated outside a house.

Local officers are using anti-social behaviour legislation to ban people who are causing problems from using the lane.

The Safer Vale Partnership, which includes South Wales Police and the local authority, will be issuing banning letters to anyone participating in street drinking, verbal abuse, littering and urinating in the lane.

“Urinating and defecating in public is unsightly and blights the image of the town. It will not be tolerated by us or the Safer Vale partnership.

“We will adopt a zero tolerance approach and continue our partnership work to make the town welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

The proposed ban would be for a minimum of six months.

Sergeant Julie Madoc-Smart, from Penarth police station, said: “We understand the impact anti-social behaviour can have on the community and we take incidents of anti-social behaviour very seriously

mamA 10 year old from Tarboro, North Carolina was punished in class for saying “yes ma’am” to his teacher, reports WTVD.

The parents of Tamarion Wilson say the fifth grader came home from school visibly disappointed. He pulled a sheet of paper out of his book bag, covered front and back with the handwritten word “ma’am.”

Apparently the teacher asked the student not to call her “ma’am,” and when he did so, she had him write the word repeatedly as punishment. He was instructed to take it home and have it signed by his parents. The teacher also said “if she had something, she would have thrown it at him,” according to Wilson. The teacher later said she wasn’t being serious.

Teretha Wilson and McArthur Bryant, Tamarion’s parents, called the teacher’s actions inappropriate. They explained their son was raised to refer to elders as “sir” and “ma’am,” and he was not being disrespectful.

The parents met with the teacher and principal to discuss the incident and request their son be moved to a different classroom, to which the principal agreed. However, they want to make sure something similar doesn’t happen to another child. “If it happened to my son,” said Bryant, “I’m pretty sure if not a week, a day, a month, a year, it will occur to somebody else’s child.”

According to the school, the teacher in question has several years of experience. A school official released the following statement: “This is a personnel matter which has been handled appropriately by the K-7 principal.”

wrongThe extraordinary blunder came to light after a 26-year-old man and his 24-year-old wife went to see an obstetrician about their lack of success.

When Dr Liu Hongmei investigated further she found out the woman had regular sex but that it was “unusually painful” every time.

At first Dr Lui thought her patient might be suffering some sort of disease or disorder.

But according to China’s Guiyang Evening Post, further examinations found the clueless couple from Bijie city in China’s south-western Guizhou province, had been having anal sex all along.

Further tests confirmed this and amazingly found the wife was a virgin.

Dr Lui said: “Four years of marriage and neither the husband nor wife knew how to get pregnant.

“Couples so lacking in general knowledge are very rare.

“But it is not uncommon for people to lack or have misconceptions regarding sexual knowledge.”

The doctor then reportedly handed the couple each a sex-ed handbook and also gave them “guidelines” before they were sent home.

The advice appeared to work, as news of the wife’s pregnancy arrived just a few months later.

They reportedly informed the doctor that they were finally expecting – and sent 100 eggs and a live hen as gifts.

Warm summer night at the carnivalOne of four carnival workers accused of dumping the bodies of a slain Wichita couple had ordered the killings while posing as a carnival mafia member, according to Arkansas police.

Carnival workers Kimberly Younger, Michael Fowler, Rusty Frasier and Christine Tenney were charged this week in Crawford County Circuit Court, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. The charges include abuse of a corpse, theft by receiving and tampering with physical evidence in the deaths of Alfred “Sonny” Carpenter and Pauline Carpenter.

Younger allegedly posed as a carnival mafia member named “Frank Zaitchik” and texted others last month to kill the Carpenters on the fairgrounds at Great Bend, Kansas, where the couple were vendors, according to Van Buren police. Detectives discovered Younger had a Facebook page in the name of Frank Zaitchik while examining her phone, according to police reports.

Police said Fowler told investigators that Frasier stabbed Alfred Carpenter before Fowler shot him. Fowler then went into the couple’s camper and shot Pauline Carpenter, according to police reports.

Fowler told investigators that the killings were initiation into the carnival mafia, police said. Zaitchik also told texted others to clean the inside of the camper and to dispose of the bodies, Fowler allegedly told investigators.

The four suspects loaded the couple’s bodies into the camper and dumped them in a creek bed north of Cedarville, according to police reports. Tenney’s sister-in-law told authorities Tenney called and said she was kidnapped by three others who had murdered an elderly couple and that she’s being held against her will, police said. Authorities found the suspects at an apartment complex.

Younger, Fowler and Frasier are being held on $1 million bond. Tenney is being held on $250,000 bond. All have pleaded not guilty.

No charges had been filed in Kansas as of Wednesday, according to the Kansas attorney general’s office. The Barton County sheriff’s office, the Great Bend Police Department and the Barton County attorney’s office are conducting the investigation, according to the attorney general.

Federal marshals removed from plane at MSP, cuffed; 1 of them ‘flashed a gun’

federalA federal air marshal “flashed a gun in flight,” prompting police to remove him from the plane upon arrival at the Twin Cities airport and handcuff him on the tarmac along with a fellow marshal, authorities said Tuesday.

The apprehensions occurred Monday night after the nonstop United Airlines Flight 3531 from Newark, N.J., landed at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to the federal Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).

The marshal was “on official business onboard a flight [and] was mistaken for a passenger by a flight attendant,” a TSA statement read. “Protocols for notification of law enforcement presence aboard an aircraft are in place to avoid incidents like this. TSA is working with the airline to determine the specific circumstances in this case.”

However, communication between the cockpit and the MSP control tower that was captured by the authoritative website Liveatc.net revealed that it was confirmed onboard fairly quickly that both men were federal air marshals, and one of them “actually showed our flight attendant his gun,” one of the pilots reported soon after landing.

“That is completely against SOP [standard operating procedure] for them to show their firearm,” the pilot added. “So that’s the reason we declared an emergency.”

Airport spokesman Patrick Hogan defended the airport officers’ actions and spelled out in detail why they had no choice but to detain the men and take them to the airport’s police station for questioning by the FBI.

“We know we have a call from the flight crew indicating a passenger flashed a gun in flight,” he said. “We contact the FBI (in-flight incidents are their jurisdiction) and make preparations to board the flight in a remote area when it lands. … We then take the individuals to the police operations center for questioning by the investigating agency, the FBI, whose job it is to get to the bottom of who the individuals are and discern the facts behind the situation that led to the call for police help.

ghostA man who posed as his ex-fiancée’s dead mother in a bid to win her back has been sentenced.

Roy Meadwell, 51, from Yeovil, broke the terms of a restraining order when he sent Kay Wimbury a letter pretending to be the ghost of her mother.

The letter told Ms Wimbury she had made a “terrible mistake” in rejecting Meadwell and added “all you have to do is call him”, Exeter Crown Court heard.

He was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for two years.

Meadwell had been banned from contacting Ms Wimbury after assaulting her in December 2016.

He was also banned from entering Cornwall – where she lived – by the restraining order, but visited the county on four occasions.

In July 2017, he went to the Willow Moon psychic shop in Cornwall for a consultation, and took a leaflet which he included in the anonymous letter.

The letter did not name Meadwell but spoke of “the man who sacrificed everything for you” and urged her “all you have to do is to call him”.

Another anonymous message, supposedly from a well wisher, but sent by Meadwell, said “OMG, can’t you see the greatness in this man”.

Ms Wimbury told the jury she knew the letters came from Meadwell because they contained details of their life together that only he knew, including a reference to a Christmas ornament which she had been left by her mother, and fixed by Meadwell.

Recorder Martin Meeke, QC, told Meadwell: “This sentence is suspended for two years and it is designed to have the Sword of Damocles hanging over you for as long as I can.

“The restraining order is still in force and if you contact Kay Wimbury again you will go straight inside.”

pantsPolice in South Carolina said a man stole a red-tail boa constrictor from a pet store by shoving the snake down his pants.

The Florence Police Department said security camera footage recorded a man, estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, walking into the unidentified pet store Aug. 10 and heading for the area where the snakes are kept.

The store owner told police he heard a noise that he initially thought to be a rat moving inside a cage, but the suspect soon started to act suspiciously and hurried out of the store.

The owner reviewed the security camera footage and saw the man shoving the snake down his pants.

“It is very unusual,” Florence Police Lt. Mike Brandt told The State.

Brandt said it was a “very odd occurrence” for an animal to be stolen from an area pet store.

“Only goods, not pets have been reported stolen,” Brandt said of previous crimes reported at the stores.

The suspect is being sought on a larceny charge.

A Man Fell Into a Massive, Fake-Looking Hole at an Art Museum

Tourists have developed a reputation for accidentally destroying all kinds of priceless artworks over the years—and now it looks like one piece at the Serralves Foundation in Porto, Portugal, is exacting a little revenge.

Last week, an optical illusion made by the famed British artist Anish Kapoor proved a little too convincing when a man fell into a large hole the artist painted with black pigment to look like a flat circle, the Times of London reports.

It’s unclear exactly how the reportedly 60-year-old Italian gentleman wound up tumbling into the eight-foot pit—especially considering there are caution signs set up all around the piece, not to mention a staffer tasked with keeping visitors safe.

The man was hospitalized after the fall, but a museum spokesman told Artnet News that he “has already left the hospital and he is recovering well.” Apparently the sculpture needs a little R&R after the encounter, too: the Art Newspaper reported that it will reopen “in a few days” with new safety measures in place.

The artwork in question is Kapoor’s 1992 installation Descent into Limbo, which Gizmodo correctly points out looks like one of those ACME holes from Looney Tunes. The piece predates Kapoor famously securing exclusive rights to the blackest black pigment in the world, Surrey Nanosystems’ nanocarbon-based Vantablack, by over two decades. Staring into the circle is supposed to provoke contemplation of the void, and perhaps get the viewer to consider the great unknowable mysteries of the universe—or, you know, just lead them to take a spill like some kind of real-life Wile E. Coyote.

Police in the small southeastern Arizona town of Thatcher say Robert Layton drove to the high school parking lot around 11:45 p.m. Friday and complained about the loud music.

Witnesses say Layton pulled a 9mm handgun out of his pocket and waved it around before pulling wires to disable the music.

Authorities later said there were no bullets in the handgun.

Layton was undergoing an evaluation at a hospital before being booked into jail.

tinderA woman has used the Tinder dating app to prank more than 100 men into showing up for a date that turned out to be a “Hunger Games”-style competition.

The New York Times reports that the woman identified as Natasha Aponte invited dozens of Tinder contacts to meet her in Manhattan’s Union Square on Sunday for what they thought was a one-on-one date.

Instead, a woman who says she was Natasha told them they had to compete for a date with her.

She disqualified the men who were under 5-foot-10 (1.78 meters) and those named Jimmy, a name she dislikes. Then she asked the remaining contestants to perform pushups and footraces.

The stunt reportedly was videotaped by Rob Bliss, the man who shot a widely watched catcalling video in 2014.

The driver sped away from the pachyderm, but the aggressive animal chased the vehicle for a distance down the road.
