Oklahoma police chief issues himself a speeding ticket

Posted By Staff

Date: April 19th, 2017

oklaThe police chief of a small northeast Oklahoma community says he issued himself a citation for speeding, but only after being caught on video.

Sperry Police Chief Justin Burch posted an apology on the department’s Facebook page Saturday, saying he was “wrong in traveling at 75 and 80 mph.” Sperry is about 10 miles north of Tulsa.

Burch admits he’s not sure he would have issued the ticket if not for the video, and that he had a “reason for being in a hurry.”   More

walletA Boston woman whose wallet was stolen in 2009 said she was shocked to get it back — and even more shocked to see it still contained all of her cash.

Nursing student Courtney Connolly said the wallet was taken out of her car during a summer internship in Wellfleet, Mass., in 2009, and somehow during the ensuing eight years the wallet found its way back to Boston, where it ended up in the hands of a police officer Monday.

The police officer used a pay stub in the wallet to track down Connolly’s family and handed the wallet over to her sister-in-law.  More

Date: March 13th, 2017

perezA shocking video shows the moment fire crews blasted a father-of-six out of his van with a water hose after he was pulled over for a broken tail light – before police shot him dead.

The suspect, identified by his sister as Michael Anthony Perez, had been pulled over in Anaheim, California, on Saturday evening when police say he refused to get out of his minivan.

Officers say they became concerned when the 33-year-old pulled out a lighter and gas container.

‘We felt this guy was going to light himself on fire or blow the car up,’ Orange police Lt. Fred Lopez said.  More

sockGRAND PRAIRIE – The Grand Prairie Police Department is hoping to save lives with the use of a new firearm and special ammo it’s giving to patrol officers to carry every day on the street.

The gun looks a little like a “toy gun,” featuring bright, orange features.

“It’s a whole lot better than shooting a 12-gauge shotgun,” said Officer Mark Yancey.

“I got into this career to save peoples’ lives, not take them.”  More

The latter was intentionally placed there as a decoy by police who feared there might be a “thrill” killer afoot, and it’s led to the arrest of one man on a weapons charge, reports the Review-Jounal.

The body of Daniel Aldape, 46, was found on Jan. 4 at an intersection some distance from the Strip; he had been struck in the head at least four times.

A month later, David Dunn, 60, was found dead of head trauma at the same intersection.  More

copsNew York – Police in upstate New York broke into a parked car to rescue what looked like an unresponsive elderly woman, who passersby feared had frozen to death.

But after smashing the window of the Subaru in Hudson around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, officers were relieved to find the “woman” was actually just an “extremely realistic” life-sized mannequin, reports the Albany Times Union.

The vehicle’s owner later returned and revealed he is a sales manager for a medical training aid manufacturer, and that the oxygen mask-wearing mannequin he’d strapped into the passenger seat is a CPR training device.  More
