Woman says her car keys saved her life

keyA Texas mother-of-six stabbed a would-be mugger in the neck with her car keys in a self-defense technique she picked up as a child.

Jessica Collins from Amarillo, Texas was attacked outside her apartment on Friday night by an unidentified assailant.

The 27-year-old mother-of-six was punched in the face as she attempted to retrieve a cellphone charger from her car.  More

Woman Nearly Falls Victim To Insurance Scam

scamCARVER – The first words on the note in a FedEx envelope returned to a Carver woman who was almost the victim of an alleged hoax said it all.

“You have been scammed!” the note read.

Carver Police said the incident started when the unidentified woman received a letter claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House.

The letter claimed she had won $2.5 million and a Mercedes.

Then she received a fake letter pretending to be from Geico.  More

Carjackers drop off boy found in back seat at school

carjackA pair of carjackers in Chicago wished a boy a good day at school after stealing his parents’ car and finding him in the back seat.

The boy, 10-year-old Richard Rodriguez, entered the car and put the key in the ignition and was waiting for his parents when a man and woman entered the car and drove off, according to WGN.

He said the pair didn’t notice him until one of them turned around to find him sitting in the back seat.  More

Iowa Mom ARRESTED After Toddler Found HOME ALONE Sucking Frozen Chicken Breast

amickDES MOINES, Iowa – A Des Moines mother was arrested Monday after police say her two-year-old son was found alone, sucking on a frozen chicken breast.

Thirty-year-old Hallie Amick now faces charges of child endangerment for the incident. Police say they were called to a home in the 100 block of East Emma Ave. around 10:15 a.m. Monday on a toddler left home alone.

When officers arrived they found a two-year-old male in the backyard, wearing nothing but a full and sagging diaper. Police say the child was sucking on a frozen chicken breast.

A small dog in the backyard was observed trying to jump up on the child to get the chicken.  More

Lottery winner used $3 million winnings to fund crystal meth ring

ronnieBRUNSWICK, Georgia – Authorities said a Georgia lottery winner’s “unsound investment strategy” involved using his $3 million to start his own business — as a crystal meth dealer.

U.S. Attorney Ed Tarver said Ronnie Music Jr., 45, of Waycross, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and firearms charges last week in a Brunswick federal court.

Tarver said Music won $3 million from a Georgia Lotter scratchers game in 2015 and was arrested in September of that same year when he and a group of accomplices were found with 11 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, worth more than $500,000, they were apparently trying to sell.

Prosecutors said they also seized $600,000 cash, firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and multiple vehicles in the course of the investigation.  More

Lynn, who does not want to reveal her last name, is a divorced senior. She wanted a companion but now regrets accepting a Facebook friend request that popped up in February.

“I just feel so stupid,” she said.

She’s now a scammer found his way into her heart through her Facebook posts, and later, her pocketbook.  More

Man, 20, charged with capital murder in death of Kansas police officer shot inside his patrol car

lewisKANSAS CITY, Kan. – A 20-year-old man was charged Thursday with capital murder in the death of a Kansas police officer fatally shot inside his patrol car while investigating a drive-by shooting, a prosecutor said.

Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome Gorman said Jamaal Lewis (left) fired the shots Tuesday that killed 46-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, police Capt. Robert Melton.

Lewis also faces charges of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a weapon from an incident earlier Tuesday.

A second man, 18-year-old DaQon Sipple, has been charged with aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer involving a different officer than Melton and with criminal discharge of a weapon.  More

81-Year-Old Marine Corps Veteran Held Hostage In Motel For 4 Years

perryHIGHLANDS, N.Y. – A New York man is accused of holding an 81-year-old Marine Corps veteran hostage in an upstate motel next door to a police station for at least four years in order to steal his benefits checks.

Perry Coniglio (picture) was arrested July 19 in his room adjoining the victim’s at the U.S. Academy Motel in Highlands, just feet away from a building housing police and ambulance services in the Hudson Valley town.

The charges against Coniglio include grand larceny and unlawful imprisonment.

Police say he used brute force and intimidation to get veteran David McClellan to cooperate with him.  More

Kathy Wray Coleman instead was picked up on an outstanding felony warrant, an officer told Daily Mail Online.

The arrest emphasized the scale of law enforcement activity in the city, where more than 5,000 officers have been deployed to keep order.

Public records suggest that the felony Coleman was wanted on involved almost hitting police officers with her car while allegedly fleeing from them.  More

Woman brought to U.S. from China as a nanny ‘was beaten, starved, treated like a slave

Slave NannyA Minnesota mother beat, starved and held a woman she brought from China to work as a nanny in a state of ‘slavery,’ forcing her to work up to 18 hours a day on little pay, a criminal complaint said. 

Lili Huang (picture), 35, of Woodbury is charged in Washington County with five felony counts, including labor trafficking, false imprisonment, assault and unlawfully taking another person’s passport.

The 58-year-old nanny, who is not named in the complaint, arrived in the U.S. on a visa in late March and was held in a state of ‘slavery or indentured servitude’ at a house in the 9700 block of Wellington Lane, a prosecutor said.  More

Twelve-year-old boy and three accomplices arrested for plot to kill Baton Rouge cops

12Louisiana – A 12-year-old boy has become the fourth suspect to be arrested for an alleged plot to kill Baton Rouge cops in revenge for the fatal Alton Sterling shooting.

Tensions are high between police and civil rights protesters following the fatal shooting of two back suspects by police officers, and the mass shooting of five cops at a Dallas demonstration on July 7.

Today another Baton Rouge cops were killed, and six were injured in another mass shooting. The shooter, who was wearing black, was seen firing indiscriminately at around 9am. 

A suspect, a black man from Missouri, has been shot dead and police say two others may be at large following what appears to have been an ambush.  More

Three students after claiming they were victims of a race-hate attack, are now charged with beating the white woman they said attacked them

raceThree University at Albany students who claimed they were victims of a racial attack on a bus last month have been charged with assault as prosecutors said they were actually the aggressors.

Alexis Briggs, Ariel Agudio and Asha Burwell (picture), all 20 years old, appeared at Albany City Criminal Court today for their arraignment.

All three have pleaded non-guilty to charges of assault in the third degree, CNN reported. 

Police said there was only one victim, an unnamed passenger, 19, who was allegedly assaulted by Briggs, Agudio and Burwell.   More   Hillary Clinton tweeted about the incident: ‘There’s no excuse for racism and violence on a college campus.’

lecterCalifornia – A prosecutor dealing with the case of one of the inmates that escaped from a California jail has compared him to the cannibalistic movie villain Hannibal Lecter.

Heather Brown said Hossein Nayeri is ‘diabolical’ as authorities revealed they are focusing their search on the suburb surrounding the Orange County lock-up where the three prisoners escaped on Friday.

Police are trying to find Nayeri, 37, Jonathan Tieu, 20, and Bac Duong, 43, and are investigating how they managed to flee the Central Men’s Jail in Santa Ana.

Authorities are currently playing catch-up, as it was revealed they had a 16-hour window between when they broke free and when guards realized they had gone.   More

Parents named suspects in disappearance of Idaho toddler

parentsThe parents of a two-year-old boy who went missing in July have been named suspects in the case.

Jessica Mitchell and Deorr Kunz Sr reported the disappearance of their son, Deorr Kunz Jr, at a campsite in Idaho last summer, claiming they believed he was abducted.

But after half a year of investigations, police have concluded Deorr’s parents are being ‘less than truthful’ about the circumstances of his disappearance.

On Monday, Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman said police strongly suspect the couple know whether Deorr Jr is dead or alive, and where he is.  More

Good Samaritan Shot to Death Helping Stranded Driver

leeNorth Carolina – A good Samaritan was shot and killed after trying to assist an allegedly intoxicated motorist stranded on an icy highway in North Carolina on Friday.

A group of three people pulled over to help when they spotted a stuck car that slid off the road in Catawba around 5:30 p.m. local time, according to Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid.

The group soon discovered that the stranded driver — identified by police as Marvin Lee (picture) — was allegedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was being uncooperative so they decided to let police handle the situation, Reid said.

When Lee overheard the group talking about calling police for assistance he got out of the car and started shooting at them, according to Reid.  More
