rabbitsWARSAW, Poland — The Polish government is encouraging citizens to go forth and multiply like rabbits.

The health ministry of Poland, which has one of the lowest birth rates in Europe, has put out a short video praising rabbits for producing many offspring.

The YouTube video shows rabbits munching on lettuce and carrots while a rabbit “narrator” reveals the secret of their big families — exercise, a healthy diet and little stress.

The brief appearance of a human couple enjoying a romantic picnic hints that a little romance might help, and a wine glass turned upside down suggested an anti-alcohol message.  More

Senator Menendez Juror Asks Trial Judge: ‘What Is a Senator?’

Posted By Staff

Date: November 7th, 2017

Category: Nutty News

trialOn their first full day of jury deliberations at the bribery trial of Senator Robert Menendez, a juror asked the judge a basic question: What is a senator?

U.S. District Judge William Walls declined to answer the question, and he refused that juror’s request for a transcript of Monday’s closing argument by Menendez’s attorney, Abbe Lowell.

The panel had returned to the Newark federal courthouse Tuesday, after spending about 75 minutes deliberating the day before following summations by Lowell and a rebuttal argument by a prosecutor.

Walls told jurors that they should rely on their individual and collective memories to determine how to define a senator and what was in the transcript.  More

The sordid and violent past of Texas church gunman

Posted By Staff

Date: November 6th, 2017

Category: Nutty News

New details about the Texas church shooter paint the picture of a menacing bully, who was prone to violent outbursts and had a disturbing interest in teen girls.

churchPublic records detail Devin Patrick Kelley’s history of physical abuse – including arrests for animal cruelty and domestic violence.

The domestic violence arrest stems from his previous marriage to Tessa K. Kelley, who he married in Texas in April 2011, while serving as a low-ranking airman in the Air Force.

The two were living in New Mexico the following year when Kelley (picture) was court-martialed for abusing both his wife and his infant stepson.

‘He assaulted his stepson severely enough that he fractured his skull, and he also assaulted his wife,’ Don Christensen, a retired colonel who was the chief prosecutor for the Air Force, told the New York Times.

‘He pled to intentionally doing it.’  More

church“Praise the Lord and pass the libation” is the motto of an unorthodox church located near Johannesburg, South Africa.

Gabola Church of International Ministries takes its name from the Tswana word for “drinking”, and it both allows and encourages members of the congregation to drink during service.

The African continent is home to lots of unconventional churches and colorful preachers who employ all kinds of outlandish rituals to attract parishioners.

In the past we’ve written about ministers spraying congregates with “holy” bug spray, making them drink motor oil or talking to God on the phone.

However, Johannesburg’s Gabola Church is apparently the first to choose alcohol as its main theme.  More

Man Falls From Deer Stand, Breaks Back, Drives Home For Help

Posted By Staff

Date: November 6th, 2017

Category: Nutty News

deerMINNEAPOLIS — On Saturday, thousands of Minnesota hunters will head out for the start of firearms deer season. They’re hoping to get a trophy buck, but a Cokato man is hoping they just make it back safely.

A week ago, Philip Martinson fell 14 feet out of his deer stand while getting ready for the opener. He broke his back and didn’t have a cellphone on him to call for help.

“I found a tree that would give me good sightlines on this little area of trees,” he said.

Martinson has been a hunter, and a good one, his entire life — but even good hunters can develop bad habits.

“Let’s just say I was stupid,” he said. “I’ve done a lot of tree stands like that and gotten by with it.”

Last Friday, Martinson finished putting up his hanging deer stand, but when he stepped back to look at his work, he noticed something wrong.

“There was a flip in the belt, and I was concerned that it would compromise the integrity, or the strength, of the belt,” he said.

So he climbed back up without putting on his safety harness. He fixed what needed to be fixed, and that’s when his world turned upside down.  More

Santa Muerte – The Skeleton Saint

Posted By Staff

Date: November 5th, 2017

Category: Nutty News

saintHer name is Santa Muerte, the folk Saint of Death, and she is the skeletal figurehead of one of the fastest growing religions in Mexico and Central America with an estimated 10-12 million followers.

Devotees have begun incorporating the controversial saint into Day of the Dead celebrations in recent years, as both are thought to originate from the Aztec goddess Mictecacihuat, or Lady of the Dead, who reigned over a festival of death every year in August.

Santa Muerte, the personification of death, is typically portrayed as a skeletal figure draped in robes and veils similar to those of the Virgin Mary.

She is often depicted carrying a scythe. Her appeal, according to devotees, lies in her non-judgemental nature, as death brings a fundamental equality to all people.

It is also widely believed that she will grant favors and wishes in return for vows or offerings.  More

COURT RULES ZOO CAN’T LET KIDS SWIM WITH CROCODILES ANYMORE

Posted By Staff

Date: November 5th, 2017

Category: Nutty News

swimA German zoo will no longer be able to let children participate in one of its main attractions: swimming with crocodiles and alligators.

The ban—which aims to protect children from the deadly reptiles—was made official during a court ruling on Thursday, The Local reports.

Previously, the Crocodile Zoo in Friedberg, Hesse, let minors interact with the animals by feeding them and swimming in the same water, but only if a guide from the zoo was present.

But now, adults will be the only ones able to swim with the crocodiles.

This means that the establishment’s popular ‘Jungle’ birthday party package—which included up-close photos with the animals—will no longer be allowed for kids.  More
