saladA 12-year-old child from Canada recently called 911 twice after being served a salad.

A Halifax District Royal Canadian Mounted Police release Thursday pointed out that this incident shows how important its is for parents to speak to their children about appropriate use of 911.

“While many can relate to the dislike of a salad at times, this raises a more important issue that warrants discussion at all ages,” Cpl. Dal Hutchinson said.

“The improper use of 911 is an issue with all age groups and it ties up valuable resources, preventing emergency first responders from dealing with real emergencies.”  More

mattMatthew Haverly said he had “no clue.” The Pennsylvania man appeared to be truly puzzled by the horrific events that occurred across the street from the home he shared with his mother in Wyalusing Township, about 50 miles northwest of Scranton.

“I’m like, ‘What the h*** is going on?,’” Haverly told ABC’s WNEP station when they arrived on the scene. “And now I realize that’s what they were actually doing.”

A shoe and black tarp were found downstream from where a UPS driver and passing-by motorist discovered a body in Wyalusing Creek. The victim was a woman.

“It’s sad to say that that’s someone’s either daughter, mother or whatever,” Haverly told WNEP shortly after the discovery.

It turns out it was Haverly’s mother.  More

Australian Artist Uses Her Own Body as a Canvas for Fantastic Art

artGeorgina Ryland, a makeup artist and beauty blogger from Brisbane, Australia, creates incredible body art using her own body as the canvas.

We’ve all seen impressive body art before, but what sets Georgina Ryland’s works from those of other talented body painters is that she actually paints the artworks on her own body, instead of using a model.

All I can tell you about the artistic process is that it involves using a mirror, as well as a steady hand and mountains of patience.

I for one can’t understand how she can paint backwards, by looking in a mirror, but judging by the quality of her work, she’s gotten really good at it.  More

swimBen Lecomte has set off from Japan in an effort to swim to California, undaunted by sharks, low temperatures, fierce weather, a gigantic garbage patch—and the fact that nobody has even swum across the Pacific before.

But the 51-year-old French man has the right experience to attempt the record-breaking open-water swim: He completed the first solo swim across the Atlantic in 73 days in 1998, swearing “never again” when he reached land, the BBC reports.

This time, he says he has been practicing open-water swimming for hours every day to deal with the physical challenges, and “visualization and dissociation” to occupy his mind during the long hours of swimming.  More
