foodApparently, that was some mighty tasty leftover Chinese food because it led one Sarasota woman to throw a knife at a man she accused of eating it, deputies said.

According to WWSB ABC7 in Sarasota, Michele Sedlak, 56, argued with a man July 27 inside a North Port home over who ate her leftover Chinese food that had been sitting in the refrigerator.

Deputies say the man told Sedlak — in a loud voice — that he didn’t eat her food.

Sedlak apparently didn’t believe him, though.

Officers say she ran to the kitchen to grab a knife, which she threw at the still-yelling man.

The knife didn’t hit him, but, according to deputies, she told the accused food eater, “If I wanted to hit you, I would have.”

Sedlak was arrested and charged by the North Port Police Department with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, according to court records.

pieA suspected sex offender hid items including McDonald’s cherry pies under women’s car tires for sexual kicks, police say.

Kurt M. Fulton, 43, placed the desserts and other items – including VHS casettes and laptops – beneath female driver’s cars so that they could not see them, it is claimed.

Then, when they reversed over the objects and got out of their cars, he would use a set of binoculars to watch them bend over to check what had happened, Mlive reported.

Fulton, who has past convictions for stalking women in parking lots, was named as a suspect in the bizarre crime by Saginaw County Sheriff Bill Federspiel on Thursday.

The Michigan sheriff said: ‘It’s disturbing because of the nature of this. ‘It’s very creepy, unacceptable behavior. That’s the best way to describe it. It’s just creepy.’

Sheriff Federspiel added: ‘Basically, what we have are victims who called us to report that they felt they were being stalked, creeped out ‘This individual was placing items underneath the tires of women’s vehicles, stalking them in parking lots, watching them, picking out victims.

pushA Washington teen is recovering from near-fatal injuries after a woman shoved her Tuesday off a bridge that spans a popular swimming area in Clark County, the sheriff’s office said.

The 50-foot-plunge near Moulton Falls shattered Jordan Holgerson’s ribs, punctured her lung and bruised her esophagus, the girl and her mother said.

The Kalama teen and a group of friends had decided to beat the afternoon heat by going swimming at Moulton Falls Regional Park.

Just before 2:45 p.m., the friends climbed the bridge that spans the Lewis River near the falls, which is a popular spot among swimmers.

As Holgerson stood at the open side of the railing, she appeared to have second thoughts about jumping, video of the incident shows.

A woman behind Holgerson suddenly pushes her. The girl screams and her arms windmill through the air.

Holgerson’s face and chest strike the water first.

The woman had apparently grown impatient with Jordan’s hesitation, Genelle Holgerson, her mother, told The Daily News of Longview.

“She could have killed my daughter,” Genelle Holgerson said, adding the woman and her daughter knew one another.

Sgt. Brent Waddell, a spokesman for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, told The Oregonian/OregonLive the incident is under investigation.  Video

Æø¿°ÀÌ ºÎÈ½ÃŲ º´¾Æ¸®South Korea’s prolonged heat wave is producing a number of unusual moments, including a chick hatching out of an egg reportedly without a mother hen or brooder lamp — thanks to the blazing heat and continued tropical nights.

The country has been enduring unusually scorching weather for weeks since early July. Daytime highs exceeded 38 degrees Celsius in Seoul and other regions on Tuesday, while the temperature in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, reached 40.3 degrees on the same day.

As of Wednesday morning, 14 people had died due to heat-related illness, while heat stress has killed at least 1.43 million livestock. More than 1,300 Koreans have been medically treated for health conditions caused by the hot weather, including heat stroke.

Experts say for an egg to develop normally, it must be exposed for a considerable length of time to temperatures a few degrees below 40 degrees Celsius. Like many regions in Korea, Gangneung has been gripped by the heat wave, its day time highs reaching 35 degrees Celsius for most of the last two weeks. The city also experienced the country’s highest-ever morning low on Monday, at 31 degrees Celsius at 6:45 a.m.

In Seoul, a glass window fell from the eighth floor of a department store on Tuesday, as the window’s silicone sealant reportedly melted in the blazing heat. No casualties were reported. A similar incident took place in police stations in Gwangju on the same day. A police officer suffered a minor injury from the accident.

In Busan, firefighters responded after a latex pillow placed near a bedroom window burst into flames after being exposed to the blazing sunlight Wednesday.

Authorities said the apartment owner’s neighbor called the fire department after noticing a burning smell. When firefighters arrived, more than half of the pillow had “naturally” combusted, as well as some portion of the chair on which the pillow had been placed.

Cody Vickers said it happened after a crew hit an unmarked water main while doing some work in the area of North High Street and Arcadia Avenue.

“With that being said it’s not everyday you see a naked man come out of his house screaming and cussing saying “I was in the f****** shower” then comes off the porch and finishes taking his shower where the excavator hit the line,” said Vickers in a Facebook post.

grinA Honduran man living in the United States reportedly pretended to be dead so his wife back home would stop asking him for money.

Danny Gonzalez, 27, took photos of himself with cotton wool stuffed into his nostrils and a white sheet over his body as if he were lying in a morgue.

He then sent them to his wife of two years living in Saba, southern Honduras, along with a picture of a flower-covered coffin in a funeral parlour and a message telling her he’d died from cancer.

But it didn’t take relatives long to realise Gonzalez appeared to be grinning in the photos.

Others noticed that he appeared to be lying in a doubled bed, and the white sheet over his body was actually a pillow cover.

collegeA Colorado university is offering to reprint up to 9,200 diplomas after the outgoing editor of the school newspaper found a big typo.

Alec Williams was checking to make sure his name was spelled correctly on his Colorado Mesa University diploma when he noticed it said “Coard of Trustees” instead of “Board of Trustees” in Old English font.

Williams told The Daily Sentinel he laughed, but then got frustrated because he had $30,000 in student loans and a diploma with a typo.

CMU President Tim Foster says the university is sending corrected diplomas to 2018 graduates and will offer them to graduates as far back as 2012.

They cost $5 each, so the university could spend nearly $46,000.

cowsA Florida sheriff’s helicopter captured video of a fleeing suspect being chased and ultimately cornered by some unusual concerned citizens — a herd of cows.

The Sanford Police Department said officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a Subaru SUV that was reported stolen in nearby Brevard County on Monday, but the driver sped off and ultimately crashed into a ditch.

Driver Jamie Young, 46, and passenger Jennifer Kaufman fled in different directions, while a second passenger remained at the scene of the crash and was arrested.

K-9s were able to track Young to some bushes where police found her hiding and placed her under arrest.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office aerial alert team, summoned to help Sanford officers, tracked Kaufman and the helicopter crew captured video of the suspect fleeing through a cow pasture with a herd of cows in pursuit.

“The large group of cows is following her, for a good visual,” a crew member says in the video. “It looks like they might attack her.”

The cows did not end up attacking the suspect, but they helped lead officers on the ground directly to Kaufman.

“A group of cows provided law enforcement a big assist, repeatedly following and helping corral one who strayed onto their turf,” the sheriff’s office said.

Richard Kondracki, owner of the cattle, said they have never acted aggressively before.

“I think they didn’t realize who they were,” he said. “They panicked. The cows were nervous. That would make me panic — if all those big cows come running at you. They didn’t know them. They don’t know if they’re there to hurt them, or steal one of the babies,” he told WKMG-TV.

Kaufman and Young were booked on charges of drug possession, resisting arrest, trespassing and petit theft.

riverDirty cars don’t look good which is why so many of us labor to wash our cars once or twice in the week. We opt to get our cars washed as well when they require more thorough cleaning from the professionals. Obviously, you’ll have to pay them for that but this Chinese man decided to save the $3 he would have spent on getting the car washed by trying to use the flow of a river to wash it for him. This had all the ingredients of a spectacular fail.

The South China Morning Post reported that the man drove his Land Rover into a river in southwestern China’s Sichuan province. He wanted the flowing river to wash his car for him and save $3 in the process.

It didn’t work out the way he had imagined.

The car got stuck in the river when the upper dam gates opened which caused water to flood in the river. He had to abandon the car to save himself. The police came and rescued him.

Restaurant Brawl Breaks Out After Customer Says He Found A Mouse In Rice

mouseA Stamford man who ordered take-out Chinese for dinner got a real surprise when he opened his box of fried rice, and then ended up in jail.

Antwaun Boyd, 25, who ordered food from China Xpress earlier this week, was arrested by Stamford Police Thursday after allegedly finding a fried mouse in his fried rice before punching one of the restaurant’s employees, said Sgt. Robert Shawinsky.

The crazy story began after Boyd and his grandmother said they opened the fried rice and dumped it out only to find a fried mouse mixed in with the rice, police said.

Surprised, and angry, Boyd and his grandmother went to the restaurant on Selleck Street to return the rice and complain, Shawinsky said.

When he handed over the box for the restaurant employee to look at, Boyd claims the employee tried to remove the mouse and throw it away and then said Boyd was lying about the mouse, police said.

That’s when Boyd responded by punching the employee in the face. A large fight then broke out as other employees came out of the kitchen with wooden spoons and began hitting Boyd, his grandmother and some of Boyd’s friends, Shawinsky said.

Boyd left the restaurant, but in the process, his grandmother got left behind and was hit in the head with the spoon and was injured enough to be taken to Stamford Hospital, police said.

The employee who was punched by Boyd was also injured and taken to the hospital.

Boyd turned himself into the police later Thursday and was charged with assault and disorderly conduct, Shawinsky said.

Police said charges are also pending against the employee who hit the grandmother.

ambulance Police say a Kentucky woman became frustrated while waiting for a ride from a hospital, and drove off in a running ambulance.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Brian Carter tells news outlets 51-year-old Pamela Cash became impatient waiting for relatives at Rockcastle County Hospital on Monday morning. Nearby, an ambulance was left running as hospital staff prepared a patient for transport.

So, Carter says, Cash got in and drove off.

She drove around 3 miles (5 kilometers) to the Christian Appalachian Project, where an employee, Jenny King, says she saw Cash looking into parked cars. King says Cash “was very welcomed,” as she was emotional and the employees “had compassion.”

Cash was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.
