Tennessee – A breakthrough drug has helped a little girl survive after being born without many of her bones, The Tennessean reported.

Janelly Martinez-Amador was born with hypophosphatasia, a genetic disease that disrupts the mineralization process of a person’s bones and teeth.   The disease occurs in about one out of every 100,000 infants, and Janelly  had the most severe form of the condition – which is usually fatal.

At birth, she didn’t have ribs to support breathing, according to the  Tennessean. Her parents, Salvador Martinez and Janet Amador, wondered if they would have to take their daughter off life support shortly after birth.

But Janelly fought, and at almost 3 years old, she began a clinical trial at  Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbuilt in Tennessee.

Now, four  years later, Janelly can dance.  Full Article

janet-goodinNutty News of the World: Canada – An American grandmother says she may sue Canadian authorities after she was jailed for 12 days over motor oil that was mistaken for heroin. Janet Goodin, 66, of Warroad, Minn., was traveling to Sprague, Manitoba, to visit her daughters when she was stopped at the border. Canadian border guards searched her minivan and found a canning jar holding a dark liquid. Their initial test convinced them it was heroin, and Goodin was handcuffed, arrested and charged with possession for trafficking and importing a controlled substance. With no money for bail, she spent 12 days in the Winnipeg Remand Center before later tests disproved the suspicion. “The inmates were all very good to me. I wasn’t afraid of them at all,” Goodin said.  More   True Crime Today    Nutty News Today   Nutty News for iPhone   Nutty News for Android Phones   Nutty Videos   Nutty News Facebook Fan Page   Nutty News on Twitter   Nutty Videos on Twitter   Register A Website Address – Choose A Hosting Package – Easy Do-It-Yourself Websites - HostWink.com  Nutty News Marketplace
