hookNEW YORK – A lawsuit has been filed after a woman claimed she bit into a fish at a Manhattan restaurant and discovered a metal hook inside.

According to the suit, Vincent and Aliona Russo were having dinner at Villagio on the Park, an Italian restaurant on Central Park South.

The couple said Ms. Russo ordered a whole branzino, and felt something unusual when she bit into it.

“Removing the remnants of the piece of fish from her mouth, she was shocked” to observe the hook, said the couple’s attorney Jay Dankner.  More

Man Buys Puffer Fish Poison To Kill Wife

edward-f-bachner-ivNutty News Chicago, Illinois – A northwest suburban man has pleaded guilty to trying to kill his wife with poison from a puffer fish. Edward F. Bachner IV, of Lake in the Hills, apparently wanted to collect $20 million on the life insurance for his wife, Rebecca Bachner. The federal indictment against Bachner says starting in 2006, he used the alias of Dr. Edmund Backer of EB Strategic Research to purchase four different orders of the deadly puffer fish poison tetrodotoxin from the biochemical manufacturing firm Biotium. Tetrodotoxin has a fatality rate of 50 to 60 percent, and has no known antidote.  More

Woman fined $535 for trying to help bird

department-of-fish-and-wildlife1Nutty News Fredericksburg, Virginia – Eleven-year-old aspiring veterinarian, Skylar Capo, sprang into action the second she learned that a baby woodpecker in her Dad’s backyard was about to be eaten by the family cat. The Capo family stopped at Lowes and they brought the bird inside because of the heat. That’s when they were confronted by a woman from the Department of Fish and Wildlife. “She was really nervous. She was shaking. Then she pulled out a badge,” said Capo. The problem was that the woodpecker is a protected species under the Federal Migratory Bird Act. Alison Capo was cited for unlawfully taking a migratory bird and now she’s been slapped with a $535 fine.  More
