A police statement on Tuesday said the Reverend Alex Novais de Brito reported that as he was praying over the coffin at a cemetery near Brasilia, the ground suddenly gave way and he and three others at the funeral service fell into the grave.

Police said they were investigating what caused the ground to give way during the service Saturday. They did not provide further information.

The priest was not immediately available for comment but he was quoted as saying the incident “ruined the moment”.  More

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAQUEENS – The casket prepared by a Jamaica funeral home popped open during a burial, allowing dirt and rocks to fall onto the body of a woman who had already suffered a life of abuse, as her grieving family members watched in horror, according to a recent lawsuit.

J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home, Inc. failed to secure the coffin containing the body of Nequia Webb-Davidson, who was killed by her husband on Jan. 12, 2014, allowing the lid to spring open as workers tried cram it into a grave that was too small.

“The funeral home showed an incredible amount of disrespect not only for the deceased, but for her family, who had to witness this incompetence and negligence,” lawyer Ronald Katter said.  More

tombstonesNutty News Loma Linda, California – The grave markers found at the home in the Inland Empire community of Loma Linda all had custom inscriptions and had apparently been ripped from the ground, spokeswoman Jodi Miller said. “We’re all trying to figure out why,” Miller said. “There’s no monetary value to these. They are made out of stone, so they are very, very heavy.” Several of the tombstones were traced to cemeteries in the nearby community of Colton, and family members of deceased individuals buried there have contacted the sheriff’s department, she said. Miller said a few of the gravestones had small amounts of metal or brass attached but there was no indication the thieves were stealing them for those materials.  More  Click on the Nutty News reporter at the top, left column for another Nutty News story

evelyn-and-hortense-edwardsNutty News New York – Two women from New York’s Queens borough are suing a New Jersey cemetery for burying their mother in the wrong grave plot 20 years ago. Evelyn and Hortense Edwards found out about the mix-up last summer when they complained the grave site where they thought their mother, Beatrice Williams, had been buried since her death in 1990 had fallen into disrepair. An employee at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, N.J., told the sisters the grave plot No. 103 they had been visiting actually held the remains of a man and that their mother was buried about 90 feet away in plot No. 132. The $25 million lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in New York alleges the sisters bought a plot at Rosehill Cemetery in January 1990, and intended on being buried with their mother in Grave No. 103, Row 20, Section 52, when they eventually passed.  More   Nutty News Today   Nutty News for iPhone   Nutty News for Android Phones   Nutty Videos   Nutty News Facebook Fan Page   Nutty News on Twitter   Nutty Videos on Twitter   Register A Website Address – Choose A Hosting Package – Easy Do-It-Yourself Websites - HostWink.com  Nutty News Marketplace
