Deputies searching Roberts’ person discovered a soft object in his buttocks that Roberts then took out and gave to the deputies, who identified it as a baggie of marijuana. Deputies said they found a second soft object in Roberts’ buttocks that was removed and identified as cocaine. He said the cocaine was not his. 
Nutty News Guam – In a ploy to rid Guam of its population of invasive brown tree snakes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is bombing the island with drugged frozen mice, military news outlet Stars and Stripes reported. Using Naval Base Guam as a starting point, scientists drop mice packed with acetaminophen from helicopters into the jungle canopy. Snakes will die when they eat acetaminophen.

David Miller, owner of the Kickin’ Chicken restaurants in Mount Pleasant, S.C., doesn’t know who made off with several thousand dollars worth of day-old vegetable oil from his seven stores. He started noticing significant drop-offs in the monthly payment from the grease buyers and knew something was going on. 
Nutty News Pasco, Washington – The head of the Washington State Potato Commission says he’s sick of people linking spuds to junk food. So Chris Voigt says he’s going to eat nothing for 60 days except potatoes. Twenty potatoes a day. And no cheating with cheese toppings or bacon bits. “The potato has a pretty poor reputation in the U.S., and it’s time to do something extreme to wake them up to just how great the potato really is.” 
Nutty News Arizona – A Phoenix jail inmate was left wearing nothing but pink socks after scaling five fences in an escape attempt before he was captured. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Clayton Thornburg suffered cuts on parts of his body since some of the Durango Jail’s fences are 15 feet high and topped with razor wire. Jail officials say the razor wire had stripped away Thornburg’s jail uniform and pink underwear by the time he reached the last fence. 
Nutty News Montana – A 31-year-old Three Forks man accused of hitting his pregnant sister in the mouth with a wrench during her wedding reception has pleaded not guilty. David J. Sicotte appeared in District Court on charges of assault with a weapon, a felony, and disorderly conduct. Prosecutors said he arrived at the reception uninvited, pushed his sister’s new mother-in-law to the ground and started fighting with the groom. Witnesses said Sicotte later came at his sister with the wrench. 
Nutty News Michigan – Police said a 40-year-old man faces drunk driving charges after he drove an intoxicated woman to the police station. Police said Donald Chamberlain, from Clawson, drove his 35-year-old neighbor to the station to answer questions about an assault involving her husband the previous day. The woman left the station with Chamberlain after telling officers she was too drunk to answer questions. 
Nutty News Webster – A three-time convicted drunk driver allegedly drove into the front steps of a house while intoxicated and wearing a T-shirt that says, “I have a drinking problem.” James J. Johnson, 50, of 519 Quaddick Town Farm Road in Thompson, was ordered held on $2,500 bail on charges of drunken driving (fourth offense), negligent driving and malicious destruction of property less than $250. 
Nutty News Florida – By all indications, a Florida high school football coach was just trying to do the right thing when he allowed a homeless player to live with him. Now that coach and his school are facing fines that could reach into the thousands of dollars — and potential forfeiture of victories — because of the player’s housing arrangements. The rule states that no school employee or representative of the school’s athletic department can provide or promise free or reduced-cost housing for a potential athlete in their program. 
Nutty News Ohio – Kroger stores in Cincinnati said cereal boxes named for Bengals star Chad Ochocinco are being pulled due to a misprinted phone number leading to a sex line. The Ochocinco cereal was supposed to bear the number 1-888-HELP-FTC, which connects to Feed the Children, the charity the cereal is supporting, but customers who attempted to call the number listed on the box, 1-800-HELP-FTC, were instead connected with a phone sex line.

Nutty News Oregon – Fayette county officials arrested a Junction City, Oregon woman in West Union for Failure to Comply with the Iowa sex-offender registry. Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a citizen, and found Tammie Sue Benson-Whitehead, 48, to be staying at 101 Jones Street, Suite B, in West Union.

The new legislation means that both the mother and father are allowed to leave work for an hour during the day or reduce their working day by half an hour during the first nine months following the birth of a child. The European Union Court of Justice in Luxembourg ruled that the Spanish law caused an unjustified discrimination on grounds of sex because fathers do not have the same rights as mothers. 
Nutty News Intercourse, Pennsylvania – Police said a district judge from Intercourse, Pa., hid condoms inside acorns and handed them out to women in the state Capitol complex last week. A summary charge of disorderly conduct was filed against Isaac H. Stoltzfus, who presides over low-level cases as a district judge in Lancaster County. The 58-year-old jurist gave the acorns to unsuspecting women, who were offended when they discovered the contents.

Nutty News New York City – New York officials said it will cost about $27.5 million to replace all of the city’s street signs to conform to national standards. The New York City Department of Transportation said the signs, which feature street names in all capital letters, will be replaced with signs featuring both capital and lower-case letters and they will be printed in a font called Clearview. 
Nutty News Australia – Producers of Australia’s Next Top Model have been left red faced after supermodel host Sarah Murdoch announced the wrong winner in what newspapers said was the country’s most awkward TV moment. Murdoch, the daughter-in-law of media baron Rupert Murdoch, was close to tears after realizing she had mistakenly announced 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich as the winner of the Foxtel TV series during the live finale.
